I have been so eager to tell you guys some big news for some time now. It’s something that I have been mowing over in my mind for a long time and have been planning for over the last month. It’s the biggest news I’ve ever shared with you all here on the blog. I feel like today is a good day to fill you all in! Drum roll….
We’re moving! Not moving as in pack up and drive away moving, but moving as in, .com’s. The blog is getting a new look and a new name! You might be asking yourself, why? Let me explain. For the last year I began to see myself and the blog turning a corner, getting more settled and branching out into not just home renovations but day to day home life. When I started the blog over two years ago we were wrapping up our first home renovation and I was eager to share the before and after. We moved less than a year later and I’ve been sharing the renovation process of our current fixer upper ever since, but to be honest, our home isn’t ugly anymore. It would be fine if we were planning to move onto the next ugly house but we’re feeling cozy just where we are. We still have a long way to go with our home but it’s a far cry from where it used to be.
So the name change, I have been praying about and really considering how I wanted to change my blogs presence. I kept coming back to the conclusion that I needed to start fresh. Here’s the biggest reasons for the name change:
- The Tale of an Ugly House has had it’s time and it’s served it’s purpose. I want my blog to move forward with my family and I.
- No one seems to get the name anymore. I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, Why the name? Your house isn’t ugly, it’s beautiful! Or Your blog should be called “this” or “that.” It’s just not resonating with people any longer.
- Let’s face it, fitting that long URL on a business card was no fun! Short and simple is always easier to remember.
- I wanted a name that fits where we are today. I have so many big dreams and future plans for this blog and I want a name that can grow with it.
Unfortunately, I can’t share the name of the blog just yet. I’ll fill you in as soon as I can.
Let’s talk what to expect. A lot of planning has been going on behind the scenes. There is still things that need to be done but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The new site should be up and running before the end of the month. It’s fresh and bright and the colors are like an extension of my home. One thing that has always bothered me with the blog was my inability to totally nail the feel. I never have been able to get it just the way I want it. The new blog however is the exact opposite! I really believe it’s a true representation of myself and the atmosphere I want to share my home in.
My content and style will not change. I still love classic design with vintage touches. I’ve always had a passion of sharing my DIY advise and projects with you. I’ve always hoped that it would inspire you to try new things and really explore your own style. That side of the blog will not be changing at all!
I’m also very excited to announce that I’ll be offering design help! I’ve been able to help people local to the Atlanta area but never out of the state. That’s going to change. I’m thrilled that I’m going to be able to offer design boards and product ideas to my readers all over the country! I am still at home with my little one so it maybe slow to start but I’m really excited to see where it leads.
I’m so glad I got to share this little piece of news with you today. I hope you’ll keep a look out for more updates on when to expect the new blog. Have a great week friends and I’ll see you back here on Thursday for our ORC update. P.S. we may have finished the floors!
