I don’t know that I’ve been this excited over finishing a room in our house yet. I probably say this every time but this room might be my favorite room so far! Lets take a walk down memory lane, shall we? These photos are from the first week after we got the house. The room had furniture and an old fridge, all left from the previous owners. Sharpie marker lined the walls and the hardwood floors were looking pretty sad. That natural lighting however was heavenly! I could just see the jewel that was hiding under all those marker stained walls.
Where are we today, 6 months later . . .
The old textured ceilings are gone and are now beautiful planked ceilings. The walls are a fresh white and that old wood floor has a warm, textured rug. Sadly the floors do not seem to be salvageable but for now a large area rug does the trick. The chandelier got a FREE update. Goodbye brass and hello wood grain! I’ll be sharing that tutorial with you soon.
Thank you wayfair.com for the lovely, white beaded place settings and the new love of my life, my Swedish wall clock.
I truly feel that this humble little dining room is now the epitome of the colonial style. It’s cozy yet has a formal feel, perfect for our family get togethers. I see many delicious meals and fun family game nights in this dining room’s future!
Have a great week friends! We’ve got a busy week ahead preparing for our dear friends who I think of as family who are coming into town next week to stay with us for a while. I’m so looking forward to seeing their sweet faces! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. A full source list is below.

Just love it Amanda! Such a great job on the chandelier makeover! That cart is spectacular, and every detail is so thought out. What color is the cabinet that you painted? Another beautiful room for your family to enjoy!

Thank you Deb ? The rolling cart was so so simple. The color on the buffet cabinet is a chalk paint color called Relic. It’s by Americana. I’ll put the product link in the source list.
I LOVE everything!!! Could you please post the tutorial for the shelving unit which displays your dishes, cake stand and baskets? I’d love to have my husband make one for our kitchen/dining area. Thanks.
Thank you so much Susan! I will be posting about the rolling shelf for sure 🙂 It was very simple. Keep a look out for it in the next two weeks.
Beautiful. ..just beautiful! I’m jealous! ?I have the “itch” to renovate a fixer – upper. ..husband not on board ? I appreciate your source list at the bottom of the post! Keep the “after” pictures coming…I can’t get enough
Thank you so much Becky! I will say that a fixer upper can be a drain on your time, emotions and wallet but we have always loved it. This is our second and maybe not our last… we’ll see 😉
