A made bed doesn’t have to be boring. If you’re stuck in a rut here’s how to make a bed pretty & comfy in 3 different ways!
Who loves to come home to a made bed? You know my hand is raised! I’ll admit that I don’t always start the day by making my bed but the days that I do I’m always thankful. There’s just something about climbing into a nicely made bed at the end of the day. This couldn’t be more true ever since we got some new linen bedding. We recently received the most beautiful linen duvet from MagicLinen and I’ve been in love ever since!
I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to make our bed before, ha! I’ve always been drawn to linen and linen bedding has always been on my wish list. Last month I was fortunate to be able to pick out a duvet and shams from MagicLinen. I’ve been happily making my bed ever since. I realized something recently. I have a few different ways that I make our bed. It’s always based on my mood that day but I think each is pretty and gives our room a cozy feel. Today I’m going to share a few simple ways that you can make a bed for a cozy feel.
The first way is typically how our bed looks on most days. It’s slightly formal yet casual with the quilt and duvet folded down. We use a hypo-allergenic duvet insert, light cotton quilt and 100% cotton sheets. I like to hide our sleeping pillows behind three euros. The pillows we sleep on tend to get wrinkles and so it’s nice to be able to conceal that in the back. I always like to add a couple throw pillows to the front for color. Most of our bedding is neutral for easy pairing so the throw pillows are our chance to add some color. I change those our according to the seasons and duvet I’m using.
You can also take this same look but polish it up a bit by tucking in the quilt. It’s still cozy but a little cleaner looking.
Tucked In Quilt with Folder Duvet-
As summer goes on and the days get warmer I find myself going for more of just a folded duvet or blanket at the foot of the bed. Its tidy and simple. Just in case you get cold in the night you still have an extra layer folded at the foot of the bed. Instead of use two throw pillows use one lumber bar pillow instead.
A Casual Layered & Pulled Down Look-
Summer is an easy going season for us. I tend to be much more go with the flow. Some days I want the bed made but not so much a tucked in, formal look. This pulled down look makes for an inviting feel and it also shows off pretty bedding layers.
I love the cotton and linen mix of the bedding. The quilt and duvet adds the perfect mix of texture. I’m obsessed with the adorable pom poms on the duvet edges. You can find the pom pom duvet here. Ours is the blue melange color. It adds just a little something extra to this pretty summer blue linen.
No matter how you make your bed it should be a reflection of your style. I’m always trying different methods and ways to make a cozier environment for our home. I’m very much a budget shopper on most things but I’ll admit that when it comes to bedding I splurge a bit. I think our new bedding is just the icing on the cake!
I’d love to know your favorite way to make a bed and if you switch your bedding up seasonally. I’m sure I’m not the only one! 🙂

Love your bedding! Where did you get your bed skirt?

Thank you so much Dana! I apologize for the late response. I took much of the summer off. The bedskirt is from Macy’s. It’s by Martha Stewart.
