A traditional spring vignette using fresh greenery, books and vintage finds. Its simple and fresh!
The spring season is one of my favorite times to decorate. After a cold and gray winter it feels like a fresh new start. I recently restored antique stretcher base table that has been in my garage for almost two years. It fits just perfectly in an open nook area in our living room. When my friend Krista from The Happy Housie asked us to share our spring mantels and or vignettes I knew that this table would be a great spot to create a vignette for spring.
One of my favorite things to use when creating a vignette is fresh flowers. In this case I used a mix of real and faux. We don’t quite have any pretty blooms in our yard so I like to mix in realistic looking faux flowers from time to time. These white stems were purchased from Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago and the baby’s breath looking stems are from Joann’s. I cut a a little greenery from our yard and placed it in water. This is a great way to get a realalistic looking arrangement.
For quite some time I’ve had design books overflowing off of my bookshelf in my office. It’s so nice to have a place to display them. I love using books I love in my decorating. It’s an easy and organic way to style your spaces.
I love mixing textures in a vignette by using metals, baskets, and antique ironstone. Almost everything on this table that I used to create this vignette was purchased at a thrift or antique store.
A spring vignette doesn’t have to be obvious spring decor. When I think of spring I think of fresh greenery, soft colors, pretty textures and items that make my heart happy. Simple has become my motto when it comes to decorating my house for the different seasons.
What are you favorite things to use when decorating for spring? Do you like to go all out or do you stick to simple? Either way I hope you have a wonderful spring season friends!

Loved reading your blog for spring decorating (even though it’s three years later). I love mixing in cuttings from my gardens even though it’s just greenery for now.
Today, styling my Craftsman bookshelves in my living room, I mixed in Gold Mop Cypress and a little Boxwood worked into a shallow oval basket of grapevine and moss balls as well as a few faux succulents and small natural looking eggs. I nestled in a white ceramic crouching bunny for a fun Pre-Easter look.
It’s mate resides on a nearby shelf next to a stack of books and a blue and white cache pot filled with more natural looking eggs.
I have a set of ceramic Quails similar to yours so I had to pull those out and tuck them near a spider plant happily residing in a big vintage dark brown etched pot sitting on the mantle in front of a westerly window.
All it takes is a few well placed touches amongst our books and other things to change the whole feel of the room.
