Cozy Dining Room Update & Progress
Don’t ya just love the legs? It was love at first sight! I opted for a round dining table for our space. Traffic flows so much better and I love that round tables just promote conversation. Our previous table was larger than the new one but this one but this one does have three leaves that we can add when we have larger gatherings.
We’ve swapped out our Windsor back chairs for these slipcovered parson chairs from Ballard Designs. They’ve brought in a bit of elegance and comfort to the room and I love that the slipcovers are machine washable. It really changes the entire look and feel in this room and we’re loving it.
I love that the table and hutch work so well together. The Irish hutch is much more rustic in certain ways but I think it compliments the table well. You can read all about my free hutch HERE.
The white walls and neutral décor in this space can be very sterile at times, so I recently added wainscoting below the chair rail and painted both in Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams to warm things up a bit. I’m still in the process of painting the crown molding and door trim to match. That dentil molding is zero fun to paint, friends.
I’m currently debating on a color for our buffet. This guy is really too close to the trim and wainscoting color and just blends in a little too much. I’ve also tossed around the idea of moving this buffet elsewhere in our home. I’m not married to it, so I may replace it with something different all together. We’ll see!
I’m still hunting down the perfect drapery fabric for the two windows. I’m looking for fabric that has a lot of blues and or greens and movement to it. Once I’ve chosen a fabric, I’ll get to sewing! I’m really getting anxious to share a completed room with you, but a collected space always takes time. It’s a layer by layer process.
Until then, have a great rest of the week friends!

This is just lovely! Have you considered a navy for that buffet? A natural top would soften the dark color a bit and add a bit of contrast:)

The table is very nice and it looks great with the Ballard chairs. I also love the blue and white dishes in the hutch.
I always enjoy your posts.

I love all your decor choices! I recently painted a room in my home Accessible Beige. It’s a great color. I like the idea of a navy buffet (someone above mentioned it). Your style is exactly my taste.

You must have an old soul – and I mean that in the BEST way! Your dining room is perfectly lovely and gives me hope – I have similar elements and this shows me how I can make it work. Now I just need to figure out how to make it all work with my floral drapes (which I adore!) Thank you for the inspiration and for sharing your home!
