Our summer home is light and airy and English cottage inspired. Touches of blue and green are throughout to create a fresh yet cozy home. Let’s take a look at our summer home tour!
It’s hard to believe that we’re already sharing our summer home. It’s as though I blinked an eye and it went from spring to summer. When it comes to decorating for the different seasons I really like my decor to flow from one to the other pretty effortlessly. This is very much the case from spring to summer in our home. I love using shades of blue and green and light creams for both seasons, so I’m able to keep decorating simple. Simple is key during the summer homes because we love spending time outdoors and entertaining friends and family.
I’ve excited to be joining several friends for the Simplicity home tour hosted by my friend Krista from The Happy Housie! Today I’m going to give you guys a look into our summer living room, kitchen and breakfast nook and master bedroom. If you’re coming from my friend Laura’s beautiful tour at Inspiration For Moms, welcome!
Last week I shared my simple tips for creating a summer mantel with character. You can find those tips here.
I’ve kept our living room light and airy with pale blues and off-whites. I love blues year round but especially in the summer months.
I was so excited to finally have a home for some of our copper pots. I shared all about our simple and cheap tension rod pot rack on the blog recently. You can read all about that here.
Just as I’ve done in our living room, I’ve incorporated shades of blue into our kitchen and breakfast nook. I love the little pop of blue that the new cafe curtains I made add to the room.
Last year I found this antique painting for only $15 at an antique market. I loved it right away but wasn’t quite sure where I liked it best in our home. I finally settled on the wall behind my baking canisters. I think it adds so much color and character to the kitchen.
We’re keeping things simple and light in the breakfast nook. I love that this space becomes flooded with sunlight in the afternoons. It’s one of the happiest rooms in our home and my favorite place to sip coffee in the mornings. I’m loving the new cafe curtains on these windows as well. The blue and white tie into the vintage and antique dishes perfectly.
Our bedroom hasn’t really changed since this spring. However, shortly after a shot a few photos we removed our wall headboard and lamps and brought in a new upholstered headboard complete with a slipcover that I made for it. It’s not quite ready to share. I’m still on the hunt for the right lamps. I can’t wait to share it with you very soon!
Do you decorate your home for the summer season? If so, what colors do you gravitate towards? Changing up a space with a new season can be so refreshing and inspiring. I love that it always give our home new life!

Thank you so much Krista! I’m so thrilled to be able to share in the hop with all of you. 🙂
I love how you’ve decorated your home for summer! I may have to copy those cafe curtains in your kitchen as mine are looking a bit “tired.”
Thank you Jane! Absolutely, I say got for it! Sometimes we just need a change and a little something fresh.
I love your English Cottage style. Very inspiring.
Thank you so much, Tracy!
Hi Amanda, I love your home–especially your lovely baskets. I like that oil painting in the kitchen, too. Just wanted to let you know that I tried to follow the links to past posts and they didn’t work for me. I’m visiting from Welcome Home Sunday. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home!
Thank you so much Marilyn! I’m so sorry the links were not working. I’m not sure what was going on there. I apologize. I’m just seeing your comment. I’ll check into that. 🙂
So gorgeous! I enjoyed your tour. Thank you so much for including me this week! Enjoy your day! xoxo
It’s so refreshing to find photos of a more traditional home whose soft and serene palette say “c’mon in and feel at home here.” Beautiful!
Thank you so much, Debra! That means the world to me. I’m so glad you found my little corner in blog land. Have a wonderful summer!
Okay so I am a over a month late for catching up on all the tours…but worth the wait! I love your beautiful home tour with so many light and airy touches.
I am always inspired here. I am not ready for fall, but I will be excited to see what you do for your fall tour too.
Enjoy the rest of summer!
I just saw your home tour post (better late than sorry, I guess) and I love your summer home colors. Our home is a downsized cottage, so everything must flow, since it is open concept. I use the same colors as you, blues, whites, and a little green, to keep it light and airy. I have a question about your round, black end table between your 2 chairs – may I ask where it is from? We have a white, square table between our chairs now, but I think a round one would be lovely. Thank you for sharing your home!
Thank you so much, Laurie! It’s always so nice to talk to a fellow cottage style fan. Those three colors are my absolute favorites! I purchased that table from a yard sale. I think I paid around $20 for it. They’re called drum tables. I’ve found several on the FB yard sale page in the past. Just search – antique drum table. It originally had a dark stain. The top was in very poor condition, so I opted to paint it with General Finish’s paint in Lamp Black. I cleaned the brass hardware with BarKeeper’s Friend. I hope that helps. It’s a versatile piece!
Thank you! I will be in the lookout for one!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home! It’s full of inspiration and warmth and I truly love it! I have been searching for some wingback chairs and your green is exactly what I’ve been searching for. Would you mind sharing where you found it?
Thank you again!!
I love your summer look! I have done different things for summer and experimented each year, but I think my favorite look is soft and serene sage green, white, and light tan for the color scheme. I have done red and white gingham accents and played up red accents before. I have done watercolor type pastels, and I have done yellow and pink before. I have done pale blue and white. I also have done the blue and green together. This year it will be the green and white, and I have light tan accents, too. After Easter, I have the green, white, and light tan now, and I think that will end up being summer, too.
To be honest, the more I live in this house, the lighter and softer the shades of colors I am going for, and the fewer bold accents. I am aiming at more subtle, timeless things, and I get tired of the bold looks faster. For Christmas, red is definitely my favorite. With time, I have pulled back even with it and brought more white into the mix. But all the other times, I like softer colors. Green is every season. Red and green are my favorite colors, but red is something I have small spots of, not usually a big amount. Green I can use all year and I think it and white really are this home’s best colors.
Absolutely beautiful. Can you tell me where the green check wingback came from? I have been looking for two just like that for well over a year with no luck.
