If you crave the colors of fall like I do, you want to bring in as many natural elements as you can. I’m sharing the step by steps for creating a natural fall mantel!
Who else is jumping for joy in their favorite sweater while they wait for their pumpkin coffee to brew? Okay, maybe it’s not quite time for sweaters just yet, but to say that I’m excited for the upcoming fall season would be an understatement. I truly feel as though my soul is completely refreshed when those cool temperatures roll in and the leaves begin to fall.
The rich colors of fall have always been something I look forward to each year. I love the natural colors of the leaves, pumpkins and gourds. Just like my love for real flowers in my home, I prefer to decorate with real pumpkins and foliage. It sometimes means that the decorating process is put off until those natural elements are available and are in bloom but I’ve learned to really enjoy the inbetween seasons and take my cues from nature when it comes to decorating.
This year I chose some gourds and pumpkins with rich green and yellow tones to dress out light beige mantel. I picked up several small gourds in different shades of yellow, cream and green. I found a small Cinderella pumpkin in that same sagey green.

I couldn’t forget to pick up a few Jack by Littles in white. These little pumpkins have always been a favorite of mine. There’s so many places you can use them in your decorating.
I started by placing a tall glass hurricane on each end of the mantel for height. I placed the Cinderella pumpkin in the middle and a couple squash on either side of the pumpkin. I also added a few mini gourds.
I filled in the spaces with small candles for a warm glow, some wimsical greenery from our yard and a few cute little pine cones for texture.
The warm candle glow has been such a treat in the evenings when we hang out as a family. It’s such a nice way to welcome in the shorter days and longer nights.
I just love the look and feel of all the natural elements fall has to offer! I can’t wait for the red and burgundy berries to pop up I n our yard. I look forward to bringing a few inside as well as some warm foliage. I find myself getting more and more anxious to decorate the rest of our home, but I’m taking my time this year and really allowing it to happen naturally. I look forward to sharing it with you once fall is in full bloom!
