Can you believe we’re at the end of summer already? September is about the time I start dreaming of the fall season. Fall to me means crisp cool air, warm colors, pumpkin everything and special time with loved ones. One room in our house that gets used a little more in the autumn season is our dining room. I’m thrilled to be sharing my simple fall tablescape and some of my favorite entertaining essentials with you that are perfect for any fall gathering!
When I was a little girl I spent many fall days at my grandma’s house. Although she’s gone now, she still holds the title for one of the best cooks and bakers in my book. It’s this time each year that I find myself not just drooling of the thought of one of her many delicious homemade desserts and casseroles but also reminiscing of the wonderful memories that were made there. Fall is a time for not just making new memories but for remember those old ones that we hold so dear. I believe the table is the perfect place for just that!

When it came time to shop for my fall decorations for the dining room my first stop was my local Cost Plus World Market – Kennesaw. You can find your local store using the store locator. It’s always a treasure hunt walking in. I found so much inspiration from their dining collection and there’s so many new and beautiful things this year that reminds me of fall at my grandma’s. Just a heads up, they’re currently having a promotion on dinnerware and table linens!
Although I gravitate towards more neutral colors most of the year, fall is an exception. I just can’t stay away from those warm, earthy colors. Warm tones lend such a cozy and welcoming feel for guest. A great way to incorporate those warm colors in your space is to use a leaf garland or just a couple of fall sprigs (like I’ve done here) through the middle of your table. You simply tuck the stems under the leaves of the next spring. Adding some birch candle pillars gives the space a warm and inviting ambiance.
Many of you know I am an avid collector of vintage copper. I try to include it in my entertaining as much as possible. When I saw these stemless copper wine glasses I knew they’d be the perfect glass to add that vintage feel to the table. Not only will I use them on my fall table but throughout the year as well.
We have a faux fireplace in our dining room. I adore it for many reasons but one big reason being that it’s such a joy to decorate each season. I love the pop of color that this faux maple leaf garland adds. Throw in a couple of copper taper candle holders and you’ve got a decorated focal point that was effortless.
One of my absolute favorite finds this season is the pumpkin casserole dish. It’s oven safe and about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! I see many of grandma’s casseroles and soups in this dish in the near future. It’s resting on a wood bark pedestal stand, which serves as a functioning centerpiece. For place mats I used some vintage pages that had fallen out of an old book that I had on hand. My grandma loved to read. She had a hallway lined with books from floor to ceiling. These remind me of exploring that hallway as a child and they make for great conversation! One of my go-to napkins for the table are these linen napkins. They can be used in any season and are incredibly soft.
I said the casserole dish was one of my favorite finds because these little pumpkin baking dishes are the second! I love topping the plate with something a little unexpected for my guest. These baking dishes are great for all of those yummy fall desserts. One of my family’s favorite desserts is Panna Cotta. So naturally in the fall I make pumpkin pie Panna Cotta. It’s just might be the perfect dessert for these little pumpkins!
This fall I encourage you to use those things that bring back those sweet memories of falls past. It doesn’t take much to create a warm and inviting place to gather. These colors, textures and vintage touches remind me of my sweet fall memories. What reminds you of yours?
Big thanks to Cost Plus World Market for sponsoring this post!

Marie,
Your home is beautiful! Can you please tell me what is the paint color you used on your dining room wall?
Thank you
Debra
Thank you so much, Debra! The paint color is called Chelsea Gray by Benjamin Moore. 🙂
I love the tablescape. It looks very pretty. Nice post. Thanks for sharing.
Everything is so beautiful!! Do you have a special place where you put the food? I would love to do a lovely tablescape, but there is no room then for the meal! The kitchen is a mess from the prepping, and the dining room has no place for it. What do you do, and do you have any suggestions for me?!
Thanks!
