Happy New Year, friends! I had hoped to connect with you all on Monday but I just couldn’t bring myself to turn my computer on. The last two weeks have been just a wonderful time of rest for me and my family. It was a break that we very much needed and the time we took to disconnect allowed more time to celebrate the Christmas season, rest and to focus on family. I’m so thankful for a fresh year and I’m looking forward to what it may bring. I wanted to share a few projects I plan to tackle this year in the hopes that maybe you’ll be inspired to start those projects of your own, as well as some thoughts from my heart I’ve have in regards to this upcoming year.
I don’t typically share much of my heart here. I tend to be a very private person. AI can see the irony in that statement as I continue to type, but it’s true. I like to keep things light here on the blog. While taking a break from the blogging world I able to focus on this little family of mine more. It was so nice to set the noise and distraction that social media can become aside and just have fun. One thing that kept coming to mind these last couple of weeks is the word, “balance.”
I’ve never successful when it comes to balance. I’m very much an all in or all out kind of person. It’s something that I’ve struggled with for a long time. People tell me all the time that they can’t believe how much we’ve have completed in our house in such a short time and if I’m honest it’s because I don’t know when to take a break. As you can imagine, when there’s projects taking place in our house everything else falls by the waste-side. It can be so draining and I know that it’s not ideal for our health. Josh and I both found ourselves craving a break and some time to just have fun. This year I’m going to focus on staying balanced as renovations as concerned as well as in my family life. I’ll keep ya posted on it and if you have any suggestions on staying balanced and keeping things simple please share. I need all the help I can get!

One way I plan on creating balance is making sure we’re eating healthy meals during the week. We’ve come a little to accustomed to take-out these days and I just hate it. My favorite meal planning sheet that I have found is this adorable floral weekly planning sheet. It comes with a rip off shopping list to keep things simple.
We have also really been enjoying one of our Christmas presents. We got an Amazon Alexa and it’s already making things easier. I love that we don’t have to have our bulky mp3 speaker anymore to listen to Pandora and I love the fact that I can keep a running Amazon shopping list. Charlie gets the biggest kick out of asking her to tell him a joke. What fun gifts did you get for Christmas?
As far as working on the house goes, you may not see as many renovations posts this year but we do have a few projects we want to tackle.
Projects for 2018-
- Update and organize the kitchen pantry.
- Give Josh’s office a makeover.
- Paint the master bedroom.
These are three projects I hope to get done this year. What projects around the house are you planning? I can’t wait to see what this new year has in store. Happy New Year everyone!

I have the same ‘all or nothing’ ailment that you have, this post hits home with me. I think when it comes to our homes, there is that added motivation to create for the ones we love too, so then we can get even more laser-focused and actually miss-out on time WITH our family. Thank you for sharing. And for 2018 projects, I would like to paint my family room and stairway, paint my covered porch ceiling, and update some existing furniture pieces!
