Hello everyone! Today, I had planned to share a few of my favorite second-hand decor finds with you that I’ve scored over the last two months. Instead, I’m choosing something else that I have been so excited to share with you all. I wasn’t sure when the right time would be or if I should at all until I had all of my ducks in a row, but we all know life isn’t perfect and if everything doesn’t go quite to plan that’s okay.
I’m opening a store! It won’t be a brick and mortar store, but one here on SMD called – Sincerely, Marie Home. It’s going to start out very small and if all goes well, it will grow and expand into all kinds of useful and classic things for your home. I have always wanted to have a little shop (picture The Shop Around The Corner on You’ve Got Mail) that offers timeless, yet affordable home decor and essentials, like fabrics, wallpaper, linens, baking essentials, cookbooks, beautiful stationary and gift wrap and a few antiques.
This past Christmas I decided that this was the year! So, I’m going to start small and hopefully build from there. Let me show you what we’ll be opening with!
To start, I’ll be offering printable and customizable gift tags and recipe cards, grocery lists, to-do lists, bookmarks, cards, wrapping paper sheets, botanical prints and possibly a couple of paintings by a good friend of mine.
Each season I’ll have new art and fun themes. This spring I’ll be offering a few different themes to choose from, like George the rabbit, below. You’ll find each theme on several items, such as gift tags, recipe cards, grocery lists, bookmarks, etc. Each one will be sold individually but will have the ability to match other items in the store.
Downloads will be just a few dollars each and you’ll be able to customize your cards and tags with your own name or sentiment and print as many as you’d like from home or with a preferred printing company.
One thing we use a lot in our home are lists. Each week I make a grocery list, menu and to-do list. This helps me stay organized. For years I made lists for my personal use, so when I started to dream up product ideas I knew that I wanted to include these.
The gift tags and wrapping paper sheets are one of the things I’m the most excite about. I have always loved pretty gift wrap, so I’ve had a blast creating these papers and tags.
I’m going to offer a few different prints and colors of gift wrap. You’ll be able to download the pattern and print it onto sheets from zazzle.com. They’re a great printing company that offers an affordable price for custom wrapping paper. If you have the proper printer, you can always print smaller sheets at home.
There will be a few patterns in a couple of color combinations for you. I’ll be offering the three designs above that I created in the soft blues and the three designs below in a soft pink and sage. The gift wrap will be ginghams, block prints and vintage style stripes. Also, I hope to offer a sweet children’s line as well very soon.
My goal here at SMD has always been to share ideas for your home and things that are useful and have value, but are also obtainable on a budget. There are so many beautiful items out there that you can purchase. My hope is that the items in my store will be both beautiful and small budget friendly. I’m planning to have the online store open this March, just in time for spring! A hard date will be shared soon. We couldn’t be more excited to share everything with you, so stay tuned, friends!
