We’re back from the beach and fall is here as far as I’m concerned! I’m adding autumn touches to our home each day. Here’s just a few inspiring fall decor ideas that I’ve been loving and a peek at our home’s fall color palette!
With every new season I’m always looking for sources of inspiration, things that will inspire my decorating and baking for the season. I find inspiration for those things in different places including online, old magazines and decor books and through travels. Each season I like to focus on a theme or at least a certain color scheme or feeling. I typically nail down just what that overall fell is when I look through photos I’ve saved. Do you do this too?
I’ve noticed this year I’ve really been drawn to the warmer, rich colors of fall. I’ve always loved the traditional colors of autumn but even more so this year. I’m finding that most of the decor I’ve saved has warm browns, oranges, reds and creams. Those colors are such natural colors of the season which means using those things found in nature in my decor will work beautifully!

These are just a few things that have inspired me this year in my fall decorating. Here’s a glimpse of the things that I’ve used on my fall mantel this year, which I’ll be sharing tomorrow!
I’ve had this mixed nut wreath saved for years but it spoke to me a little more so this year than previous. I’m really drawn to the tans and rich browns.

This eclectic entry way really jumped out at me on Instagram. I love the collection of walking canes in the umbrella stand and the browns and plaids of the hanging jackets are very quintessential fall.

I don’t typically decorate for Halloween necessarily but these paper mice are just too cute! I love the look of them on this older stained staircase. I might have to use this idea in our home someplace. I might just bring them out the week of Halloween for fun.

I don’t think I’ll ever go tired of plaids. I’ve loved them ever since I can remember. I’ve got quite the collection of plaid throws that I’ve grown over the years and I love that these throws are stored and displayed in a basket. It creates a cozy feel and makes for handy storage.

Although this is a Thanksgiving table setting, this natural centerpiece could be created for any fall gathering. Again, natural elements are used. Faux or real berries work here against the real pumpkins. Love the colors and warm feel of this table setting.

Fall is one of my favorite times to be in the kitchen. I’m a sucker for all things cinnamon and apple. Fall flavors really speak to my soul and these are just a couple recipes that I have saved to try this fall season. Each one looks absolutely delicious!

I can’t believe I’ve never made French onion soup before but it’s on my list! Fall is such a great time for soups, so this is a must try.

Autumn Outdoors
It might sound cliche but fall really is my all time favorite season to be outdoors. From the cooler temps to the crispness in the air to the warm and vibrant colors, I love it all! The outdoors in autumn is my happy place. We entertain quite a bit and in the fall we especially love hosting outside. I love this sweet outdoor food set up by Nora Murphy.

Talking walks is a must most days for our family but even more so in the fall. I’m really looking forward to see those changing leaves and pumpkins by each stoop.

Pumpkins on the porch is a given but I love the mix of the old brass lanterns used on this front porch. I can imagine that they’re even more dreamy at night when burning. I don’t have a covered front porch but I’m thinking I might set out some lanterns on evening when it’s not raining, especially if we’re expecting company. It would be such a pretty sight to walk up to.

My husband and I are very patriotic but I honestly hadn’t thought about flying our flag during the fall season, silly I know. I love the entire look of this. It’s so very New England fits right into the fall season perfectly. I might just have to leave our flag flying throughout the fall season.

What has you inspired this season? I have realized that if I’m paying attention I can be inspired while at our local bakery, on a trip to Trader Joes or by simply taking a walk down our street. Autumn just gives me all the warm feels. I’m very much looking forward to everything the season has to offer. I hope I can inspire you as we transition into it! I’ve also taken some time to round up a few of my favorite things in stores currently that I plan to use in my own home this fall season. I wish you a very lovely autumn season, friends!
