Hello friends! I have thought about writing this post a million times. The timing just never felt quite right. The truth is, we wanted to keep this sweet secret for ourselves for little while. It’s the reason I haven’t been around much here on the blog or on Instagram. If you’ve seen any of my recent IG stories you may have already guessed the big news. If you missed those stories, here it is – we’re expecting baby #2! Our family of 3 is growing!
I had planned to get back to work here at SMD after the first of the year, but in the beginning of January we found out that we have a little one on the way. In typical fashion the exhaustion and nausea set in and blogging just didn’t seem so important. You see, our son is 10 years old. We had never planned to have such a large gap between children, but that’s just the way things worked out. After trying on and off for quite some time, we decided that we needed to be content with the blessing we already had. Thankfully, God knew better and after many many prayers He saw fit to give us a baby girl.
Baby Audrey is due in September. I haven’t decided just yet if we’ll share her middle name here in blog land. Sometimes it’s nice to keep those things just for family and close friends. I’m sure you understand.
After we found out we were expecting a girl, I took a couple of months to decided on a direction for the nursery. I really didn’t know if we would ever have another nursery. After all it’s been 10 years since Charlie was born. Once our hopes for another child became a reality, it was important to me that I took my time and really loved each design choice. I’m still diligently working in this room, but here’s a little sneak peek to give you idea of the direction I’ve gone. I’ll share an entire room reveal with details soon.
This has been such an exciting time for our family. We have made sure to spend our summer making sweet memories with Charlie. Taking time away from the blog and social media has been a must for me. Although Charlie is excited to have a new sibling, it will definitely be an adjust for him. Creating quality time together these last few months has been very important to us.
I’m not sure what the rest of the year will look like when it comes to the blog. I haven’t shared much this year, but I have been completing projects that I’m anxious to share with you all. I’m going to try my very best to get them photographed and posted. Until then, have a great week & thank you do bring apart of this exciting time for our family!

Congratulations, what a blessing to you and your family!! I was wondering what happened. Focusing on the family is the most important. I only read blogs and look at Pinterest, and am not on any other social media. You wouldn’t believe how much less stress I have. May God protect you and baby during labor and after. I will be praying for a healthy delivery. Charlie will be a tremendous helper and a protective big brother. God knew when the timing was right. Again, congratulations and y’all picked a beautiful name.

I was JUST pondering when your next post would bless my eyeballs, and now I am over the moon so happy for you all!!!! I do not do IG or any other social media for that matter …. so your blog is a delightful breath of fresh air which I gleefully relish! Your talents and the expression of them in your home, shared with us, is a HUGE gift. Thank you so much for giving up a chunk of your private world to inspire and encourage others to express the image of God through our homemaking… and mothering. 🥰 That long-awaited little girl has the most adorable nursery ever.

Congratulations! I am 10 years older than my brother, and my sister is 7 years older than him. He is just a little spoiled! HA! My sister and I were old enough to think we were “mini mamas”! We adored him. I am sure Charlie will be the very best big brother and so protective of his little sister. Take good care of yourself and enjoy this special time.

Congrats!!! So very exciting for your family! I remember worrying about the age gap between my boys. The oldest two were 9 and 7.5 when their little brother was born. The gap was also not planned. I had a miscarriage and years of infertility. It turned out to be so very wonderful! The older boys were so helpful and adored their baby brother. Baby brother actually turns 11 today! And the boys are the best of friends. It’s the sweetest!

What a darling room you’ve created for your baby girl! Congratulations on your newest blessing!!! I’m beyond excited with you for what God has done!
Also, Nothing wrong with having your personal life private. My grandmother (oma) has always been an example to me on this and today, it seems, everything is always out in the open for anyone to see. You get to choose what others see.
Blessings to you and your sweet family!

I just joined your blog today! So excited to read your good news. I have three sisters. One is 2.5 years younger than me. The other two are 11 years younger than I am. I am closer to those two than the one close to my age. What a blessing you will have with Audrey. I am sure Charlie will be an amazing big brother. Many blessings to your family. 💕Robbin
