I’m so excited about this second part of our entry way reveal. If you saw the before and after of the main entry way yesterday on the blog you’re probably wondering what the second part of the reveal is. There is a small coat closet right under the stairs in the foyer. It almost didn’t get a makeover at all. It was your typical coat closet. It had a simple bar for hanging coats and a small shelf above. The walls were white and actually pretty clean. I decided to do something a little unexpected to this closet when I was searching Wallpaper Direct for some wallpaper for the back wall of our built-in bookshelf in the living room. I came across the most beautiful wallpaper I think I’ve ever seen! I knew I couldn’t just put it in one place. So I decided that in the coat closet would be perfect. I had ordered a new coat rack to replace the sad little bar anyways, so why not hang some wallpaper too? One thing I love about a beautiful little closet is that it’s so unexpected and fun.
Here’s what the closet looked like before. It’s not terrible but not great either.
Here’s the closet today!
This gorgeous wallpaper is called Scene Graphite. You can find this wallpaper by Wallpaper Direct here. I decided to hang the paper on just the back wall of the closet. I think it adds just enough of a focal point without feeling overwhelming in this small space. The built-in bookshelf is on the same wall as the closet so the paper looks like one continuous painting. I can’t wait to share that built-in makeover with you soon! Forget about rolling your paper with glue or water and booking it first, with this wallpaper you roll your glue onto the wall and stick the paper directly to the wall. It doesn’t get any easier friends! I had this wall done in a matter of minutes.Â
We gave the walls a fresh coat of paint in Simply White by Benjamin Moore. I took the old rod and replaced it with a metal bar rack instead. It adds so much charm to the space. You can find a similar coat rack here. The shelf that was at the top of the closet is now a bench seat towards the bottom of the closet. This provides more usable storage. You can actually see what’s sitting on it. We also added a couple hooks to the door as well for extra hanging space.
There’s a basket to keep outdoor toys and blankets and just enough room for a few pairs of shoes.
I couldn’t be happier with this space. It’s such a fun extension of our foyer and guest are always so surprised when they open the door. I love having a touch a pretty in the coat closet and hope everyone who uses it feels welcome in our home. The beautiful black and white paper is perfect for our colonial and adds an extra touch of charm. Big thanks to Wallpaper Direct for the lovely wallpaper and your amazing customer service! You guys are awesome. 🙂
I hope you all have a wonderful week and don’t forget to check out yesterday’s reveal here if you missed it.
