We’ve added simple touches to create a timeless Christmas foyer this year. Just a little greenery, candles and vintage glass ornaments is all it takes for a simple, yet festive home this holiday season!
Hello friends! I’m sharing my first Christmas home tour of the year today. I always get so excited to share the first tour each year. If you’re coming from 11 Magnolia Lane, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Christy has such beautiful homes. I’m so thrilled to be sharing along side of them!
Let’s kick off the tours with our foyer. Each year I keep things fairly similar, however, this year I decided to go with a faux garland for the bannister. I’m usually a strictly real garland kind of person, but after finding this very realistic garland at The Cotton Mill Exchange, I decided to change things up a bit.
Adding garland to our bannister is something I look forward to each year. It makes our foyer extra special. I secure the garland with clear zip ties and added three bows made from fringed velvet ribbon. Each year I like to change the ribbon and color to keep things interesting. This navy ribbon is from Hobby Lobby’s sewing department.
Mercury glass ornament garland and faux blueberry stems add some color and shine to the garland. I love the thick, layered look when using greenery.
We try to stick to simple, natural elements when decorating. I like our home to be festive but to be free of clutter. A couple greenery stems and ribbon makes for the perfect touch above our coat hooks.
Vintage glass ornaments make for simple, inexpensive decor. Adding just a few to a small plate or bowl gives a room a little magic.
Small tea light candles, tucked between the spindles on each step, add a sweet glow in the evenings to our staircase. Although, I love the glow of real candles, we usually use battery operated ones for this.
With just some garland, glass ornaments, candles and greenery, our foyer is transformed into a festive and magical space. I love that you don’t need tons of over the top decor to get your home Christmas ready. Simple truly is the best!
I hope you’ll stop by tomorrow to tour our living room and den. Be sure to hop over to The Pink Clutch Blog to check out Paige’s beautiful home all decorated for Christmas. Have a great week and happy decorating, friends!

I think your garland is exquisite! I didn’t know fringed velvet ribbon was a thing!
Thank you so much, Jane! I’m normally a strictly real garland kind of person, but found this faux at a local shop near me and couldn’t resist. I love that it won’t dry out too! I discovered fringed velvet ribbon this summer and have be waiting until the perfect time to break it out. It’s such a pretty spin on traditional velvet ribbon.
I love the natural look and usually stick to it also. The blueberry garland on the steps is beautiful and so different.
It’s simple and lovely, Amanda! The blue ribbon is perfect and you’re right, that garland is stunning and looks so real. Thanks for joining us on the tour again this year, and Merry (early) Christmas!
This is GORGEOUS! I used blue too, in our dining room. Love the velvet ribbon.
Mary Ann
Your foyer is lovely. Especially like how you layered your garland and the beautiful blue ribbon. So well done – all of it.
Amanda Marie, what a lovely foyer. The garland on the stairs railing is simply devine and the blue ribbon is perfect. Happy holidays.
Great decor!!! I loved the staircase, K Sunday
Your entry is beautiful! I love all of it. Where did you get the gift wrap in the picture? The green with Christmas trees on it and the blue floral? Please share where you bought it. It is all so loverly
Thank you so much, Mary and absolutely! The blue block print is from Ballard Designs. There should be a direct link for it under the “shop the post”, and the green tree print paper is from https://jshhomeessentials.com.
Is there any chance you could tell me where you got your coat rack? It is really beautiful and just what I am looking for. I also love an English Country Style and your home decor offers such beautiful inspiration!
Thank you so much! It’s actually from Pottery Barn. I bought it almost 10 years ago. Sadly, they no longer sell it. There may have something similar though.
