October is one of my favorite months of the year. Our home is just cozier in the fall. Today, I’m sharing a look at our home and all of the natural and cozy elements that I’ve incorporated into my fall decorating.
October and November are my favorite months of the year. I love the warm colors, the crisp air, and all the comfort foods. Our home has always felt a little cozier in autumn. When it comes to decorating for the season, I don’t do very much. I’ve found that the natural elements of fall are all you need.
Our candles get a workout in the fall and winter months. The warm glow requires one to curl up with a good book and a warm throw.
I like to swap out my summer linens for ones with warmer tones. I recently made a new slipcover for our ottoman with a JSH fabric that I’ve had on hand for years. The gold color is perfect for this time of the year and I love that each of these fabrics will go right into Christmas perfectly. I’ve link the block print pillow cover below.
My tutorial for this pinecone garland can be found HERE. It’s the perfect natural touch for fall and can also be used at Christmas time, just swap out the ribbon. This is the first time that I believe that I’ve done an autumn garland and I love it! It’s so simple, yet so festive.
Adding a little velvet ribbon to sconces is one of my favorite tricks in decorating. It’s so easy to do and a nice unexpected touch.
Our dining room is one of the brightest rooms in our home. In the fall the sunlight turns to a slightly warmer glow. I love the cozy vibes in this room.
Our den is the center of so much. It sees a lot of family movie nights, game nights with friends, and lots of laughter from my kiddos. I try to keep this room a little less fussy. All of the pillows in this room see the floor on a regular basis and the antique chest gets pushed from one end of the room to the other.
This space functions beautifully. We use every cabinet, basket and drawer to store all the things that don’t look the best on display. I really like to keep any extra decor, besides family photos, at a minimal.
I keep the pillow covers in this room pretty neutral. Each one can be used throughout the year no matter the season. To reflect the current season I brought in cozy throws with warm colors, an autumn scented candle, and of course a pumpkin.
I’m so glad you could stop by and take a peek into our home this month! It’s rare these days for it to be so tidy. We’re right back in the stage of baby toys and crumbs everywhere, friends. I’ve loved every second of it but we truly need the rest that autumn offers. Spending cozy nights indoors under a knitted throw is what I crave these days. I’m so glad we finally made it to October. Happy autumn, friends!

Thank you so much, Stacey! That is the best compliment I could ask for. Happy fall!
Absolutely beautiful! Elevated and classic yet homey and welcoming. Would love for you to offer small slipcovered ottomans in neutral fabrics.
Thank you, Debra! That means a lot. I would love to offer something like that in the future. I just don’t have the time or bandwidth at this time. Maybe one day! 🙂
Love all the natural elements! Would you be able to share the source for the orange mums in the living room?
Thank you so much! I purchased all of my mums from Costco this year. I’ve had them for several weeks and so far they’re all doing well. Some are already reblooming. I do replant my mums into slightly larger containers once I get them home. They tend to be rootbound when purchasing from the store.
So pretty, really enjoyed your tour.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you stopped by.
I need a moment to wipe the drool off my chin…
I either want to move in or be invited over so I can put everything in my back pocket and make a run for it…
Haha! Thanks so much, Shelley! That’s how I feel every time I look at a Gil Schafer book. Happy fall!
Your home is so warm and welcoming. I love the simple touches that reflect the season.
I know I said it before, but I’m so happy you’re blogging again.
Happy Autumn!
Karen B.
Thank you so much, sweet friend! I’ve enjoyed being back so much. It’s always been such a fun creative outlet for me.
Just beautiful Amanda! Thank you for sharing a mini tour of your home this fall. Your style is timeless & classy.. You have a way of inspiring me to bring a cozy, yet traditional style into my home. Enjoy your baby days… You know how quickly they slip away. God bless 💗
Thank you, Rachel! That means so much to me. I always hope that’s how my home comes across. These baby days are so fleeting. I can’t believe she’s already one and Charlie turns 12 this December. My mama heart can’t take it some days.
Love your style. Warm and cozy without fuss. I’ll be over shortly for coffee!
Aww thanks Amy! Come right on over!
Your home is such a delight….has all the elements…warm, cozy and classy…All rolled into one…Simply stunning!
Thank you so much, kathi! That means the world to me. Thanks for stopping by and happy fall!
Can you share with us some of the favorites of the decorating books you have displayed? Your home looks lovely!
Thanks, Lynne
Absolutely! Anything by Gil Schafer is perfection. He’s one of my all time favorite architects and designers. I also collect vintage Martha Stewart books and Magazines. You can find these at thrift stores and on Etsy. Her ideas were always so timeless. Bunny Williams is another designer I love and her books are beautiful. I also have several Ralph Lauren fashion and home design books. Here’s a link to some of my faves – https://www.shopltk.com/explore/sincerelymariedesigns/productsets/
So pretty.
I have admired your two chairs with velvet slip covers for a while now.
Can you share the slip cover source/name and color of fabric ?
Thank you,
Heather
Thanks Heather! The velvet chairs are from Ballard Designs. They’re the Rebecca chairs but sadly, they’re not available anymore. I actually purchased both of mine and the ottoman on the FB marketplace. The slipcovers were also from Ballard Design’s made just for these chairs. I would keep an eye our on the marketplace for one. Every now and then I’ll see one pop up. I’m sorry I don’t have any more info than that.
I just came across your blog a few days ago, and I am really enjoying reading the past posts… what a remarkable transformation on your home! The house is day and night different from where you started! I really like your style and I will continue to check in to see what wonderful new ideas you are sharing. Thanks!
So very beautiful. Amanda, your style is so calming and comforting.
Simply perfect, Amanda. I know your friends and family never want to leave your home. Would you mind sharing where you sourced the beautiful printed-fabric lampshades?
Your home absolutely glows. Could I have the colors of your walls?
Such a cozy and inviting vibe! October truly brings out the warmth in home decor.
Your home is so warm and welcoming and you have a wonderful sense of design. I love the wall colours you have chosen as they are a beautiful neutral but have a warmth about them. The deep shade on the wall in the den behind the sofa is so striking and gives the room a cozy feel. Can you tell me what paint colour you used in both rooms. I like to change my decor with the seasons also just with a change of pillow covers and accessories.
Thanks Amanda for sharing your beautiful home with your followers. Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.
