I’ve got another fun hack for you guys! I recently was flipping through a new Pottery Barn magazine and came across a super cute pillow cover.
This pillow cover sells for $39.50. As much as I liked the pillow, I wasn’t going to spend that much on it. You know me, I told myself, I can make that! I went to Hobby Lobby and got what I needed. What is so awesome about this hack is that my version only cost me $3! I bought a plain canvas pillow cover and used my Silhouette Cameo to print out an ampersand in the size and font that I liked. I really just eyeballed this folks.
Make sure to iron your cover first. It’ll make it much easier to trace on. 🙂 If you do not have a Silhouette, you can always print your ampersand on regular paper and cut it out.
Position it where you’d like it, and trace it onto the cover using a pen or pencil.
Once that was done I placed scrape paper flat, in between the two pieces of the pillow cover. This is to prevent your paint from soaking into the other side. I filled in the ampersand with Martha Stewart’s black acrylic paint that I already had on hand. (Most of her acrylic paints can be used on fabrics.)
I let mine dry overnight and it was ready to go!
It found the perfect home right in our newly updated entry way! It’s so simple yet so cute, don’t ya think?! That’s it for today friends. I need to get to work on that monthly newsletter I promised you all. Drink plenty of coffee, you know I will and have an awesome Monday.

Thank you so much Rachael! I think I’ve just had a lot of painting practice, but then again the stencil really helped!
So cute and you make it look easy. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much Becky and thanks for stopping by 🙂
What a great hack Amanda, $3 dollars is a lot better than $40! I need to tell my sister about this because she liked everything from pottery barn. Thanks for sharing and partying with us at Talented Tuesday.
Cheers,
AJ
Thank you Aspen! It’s so much cheaper to make on your own it’s crazy. I typically love everything from there as well. I try to make my own version of their things when possible. 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by!
I’m back again Amanda! And I LOVE this DIY too! Sooo simple and easy – might just make one right away for my daughter’s room 🙂 Thanks for sharing! I’m featuring you at the Talented Tuesday party tomorrow morning. I hope you’ll stop by and say hi!
