Happy New Year friends! I’m so glad you’re here today for our winter home tour. I have to admit I was totally feeling the post holiday blues last week. Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year and all the decor just makes my little heart happy. Once I boxed it all up I felt like our home looked empty and plain. Going from those sparkling twinkle lights to a gray winter can be, well, challenging. My goal this winter was to make sure our home felt cozy and restful. One of my favorite bloggers, Annie from Zevy Joy does this with ease. Her beautiful home is apart of our winter home tour as well. Be sure to stop by her tour today.
I don’t know about about, but I personally love neutrals. To add interest and ramp up the comfy, I’ve added tons of texture and lots of throws. No one goes without a cozy blanket in the Becker house! If you were to ask my hubby J he’s tell you we could open a store on our throw pillows and blankets alone. So, grab your coffee and take a look.
I made sure to keep our entry way very simple for this time of the year. I feel like we really need a clutter free spot for all those coats, boots and hats.
Now to the family room –
I swapped out the Christmas pillows with some soft knitted pillow covers. Those can easily be made using old sweaters.
I’ve claimed this little spot as my reading corner this year. This chair is beyond comfy. and the natural lighting is just right.
Off to the kitchen & breakfast nook –
Maybe it’s the heat from the oven or just the delight of a yummy pastry on a cold day but I love baking in the winter. It makes the season feel a little warmer. My son loves helping my in the kitchen so we make it a family affair. Here’s to messy but loved kitchens this winter!
We recently updated our breakfast nook. Although there are a couple things left to do, I’m loving the extra space for my vintage copper collection and the board and batten makes my heart skip a beat every time I walk into the room. I’ll be sharing the before and after and all the details in between on the blog soon. This space has changed a lot in the year that we’ve lived here.
There’s something about the winter months that has me falling in love with my home all over again. Maybe it’s the family movie nights with a fire going or the quite mornings when I’m alone with my thoughts and my coffee in hand. It’s a great time to really rest and recharge. We have some wonderful plans for this old house this year but for now I’m going to curl up with a throw and enjoy these cold but restful winter months. I hope you will too!
Have a lovely week friends and make sure to check out the endless winter inspiration by these other talented bloggers. Beth from 1111 Light Lane is up next and her home is the epitome of beautiful. I’m so honored to be apart of this tour with all of these awesome ladies!

Can you please tell me where you got your sign with the Laura Engalls quote on it?
Julie, I made the sign. I printed the quote out off the computer using Word and used transfer paper to paint it onto painted plywood and then used stain trim to trim it out.
Wow, you have such an incredible eye for detail! I am blown away by your styling and how each little space is so well put together. Everything is gorgeous, I especially love the vignette with the cozy chair and the beautiful signs. that is so well done.
