Summer has been such a full season. We’ve stayed up late watching movies, worked tirelessly in the garden, and ventured out to the beach. Here’s just a glimpse of our home currently, so take a peek as we say goodbye to summer and hello to autumn.
And just like that, summer is practically over. It’s always seems to be gone as quickly as it arrived. We spent our summer swimming, attending soccer games, introducing Charlie to a few classic movies and topped it all off with a week long beach trip to our favorite spot. This summer was very much the – we came, we saw, and we conquered scenario! Did you have a similar summer?
Today I wanted to share a few snap shots that I took a week or two ago of our home before we completely close the door on the summer season. I know so many people have already moved on to fall linens and decor, but I like to keep things light and airy here until after Labor Day. Although I love my home the most in the fall, there is something that is so calming and refreshing about it in the summer months. It feels completely lived-in and I love that about it.
The early evening light is my favorite in the summer. It’s gives our house a warm glow. I’m loving this view lately. My mom purchased this beautiful vintage lamp from a local antique shop for my birthday this year. She certainly knows the key to my heart!
Our summer has been terribly hot and dry, so I’ve already cut several of my lime light hydrangea blooms to dry. I’m very grateful that we have so many hydrangeas in our yard because it allows me to cut and bring in a lot of flowers each season.
Our pantry doesn’t see to much action in the summer… too hot to bake. We’ll be changing that next month. I’m ready to dive into some new fall recipes.
We recently moved our tall TV cabinet to our basement when I found this sideboard on the FB marketplace. I had been hunting for the perfect one for a couple of years. This guys only cost $150 and it’s just what I had pictured. I love that this furniture piece doesn’t compete with the height of our fireplace mantel.
There’s that warm evening glow again. Our breakfast nook gets blasted with afternoon sun, which makes it a bit warm in the summer, but in the fall it’s just right. I’m looking forward to gathering around this table again.
I don’t believe I’ve shared our powder room/ laundry room in quite some time. Almost three years ago I painted it this pretty blue grey. I’ll have to do some digging in my basement for the color combo. I had to mix a couple of paint colors together to get just the right shade. The photos just don’t do it justice. The color is so dreamy that I ended up painting the planked ceiling as well.
I’ve been working on a sink skirt to hide the pipes of this sink. Attaching it to the sink as been a bit challenging. Hopefully I will get it installed soon so I can share a before and after of this room. I’m anxious for you to see it.
I wish I had more photos to share, but with an 11 month old running around, it’s been a bit crazy. Did I mention she’s walking now? Audrey started walking a month ago today and she hasn’t sat still since. She’s very much like a tornado, getting into anything and everything. In spite of that, we’ve found immense joy. She is so much fun and has such a big personality already. I’ve just begun to plan her first birthday party and I’ll be sure to share the details of that here. Until then, have a great week everyone!

Love your style! Would love to know more about the block print, ruffled coverlet on the back of one of your armchairs. Gorgeous!

Thanks Cyndie! The ruffled quilt is from Tessa Foley’s collection – https://www.tessafoleyinteriors.com/shop
It was a birthday present that I received last year, so I don’t know if it’s still available. Her sales are usually seasonal.
Thank you ever so much for posting again! My eyes light up with happy anticipation when your post declares itself to my in-box,; my eyes know they are headed for my favorite visual treat!! Your curated home reflects such a spirit of serenity sorely lacking in today’s culture of brazenly disordered chaos. That says something significant about YOU and your stabilizing presence – even if Little Miss Tornado is busy in the background! Thank you for investing in society by investing in Home. 🥰
You are so kind, Kimberly. Thank you!! That really means a lot to me. I’m so glad my photos reflect the peace we feel here. Little miss tornado is certainly busy but a ton of fun!
It’s always such a treat to read your posts!
Oh, I’m so glad, Patricia. Thanks for stopping by!
When I made a skirt for around my sink I used sticky back velcro for the sink and sew-in velcro for the skirt. You can purchase it that way. Worked like a charm!
Yes, I thought for sure that would work, I stitched one side of the Velcro to the skirt and stuck the sticky side to the sink. It only sticks for a few minutes to a hour and then peels off. I made sure to clean the sink well, so not sure why it’s not sticking to the porcelain. I’m a bit hesitant to use any form of glue or adhesive with the fear that it might mess up the sink’s finish. I’ve been racking my brain on what I could do.
I can feel the comfort of your lovely home through your photos. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us while keeping up with your (it sounds like) very active 11 month old. Happy first birthday Audrey!
That means so much, Kristine. Thank you! She is a whirl wind, but she’s so much fun. We are so excited to celebrate her big day!
Your home is so lovely & peaceful.
I love the sun coming in at late afternoon as well.
It really does something magical to our homes
Thank you, Rose! It’s where I’m the most content. There’s no place quite like home. I agree! The afternoon sun is magical.
You have a beautiful home!
Thank you so much, Helen! Have a wonderful week.
You have such a beautiful home and I love how you have chosen to decorate. There is beauty in decorating over time and selecting the perfect pieces. I love your antiques. It’s also such a treat to get a post from you.
Thank you, Nancy! I couldn’t agree with you more. You really can’t rush the decorating process. I love a space that has collected items from over the years. It’s more interesting that way!
I always love seeing your posts, and I really enjoyed seeing your summer photos. I am waiting until after Labor Day to change a few things out, too, but I still keep our home light and simple.
Thank you so much, Laurie! I agree. Simple is the way too go. Over the years I’ve really come to love smaller hints of the current season and a lot less clutter.
Your home is so beautiful and your blog is my favorite!! Would love to know more about the blue paint in your laundry room/powder room if you are able to find it! Can’t wait to see your sink skirt!
Thank you so much, Hilary! That means the world to me. I will definitely check into the paint color. I meant to do that this weekend and got busy. I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted!
Absolutely love your design style and your home! Where did you get the flowered curtains? They are gorgeous!
Thank you so much, Rebecca! I made the curtains from a Waverly fabric. Sadly, it’s discontinued and I can’t remember the name of the print. I bought the fabric on extreme discount after it was discontinued. Here is the blog post on those curtains – https://sincerelymariedesigns.com/diy-pinch-pleat-drapes/
I’m so happy you’re back and look forward to seeing your lovely home in the upcoming season. I know how busy you must be so it’s just nice to know you’re back however often you have time to drop a line. 😊💙
Karen B.
Thank you so much, Karen! It’s been so nice to share here the last couple of weeks. I truly have missed it. I’m looking forward to completing a few projects around here before the end of the year, so I should have lots to share!
I love your home & look forward to your posts! They always contain so many ideas that I’d like to incorporate into my own home! Love your dining room curtains, can you give the info on them. Thank-you!
BY THE WAY: I have an Audrey too, but she’ll 27 in a few months!
I’m so glad to hear that, Tammy! It’s hard to find classic and obtainable design ideas online these days. I’m so glad you’re here! I made the curtains myself from a Waverly fabric that is sadly discontinued. I purchased the fabric on extreme discount. I wish I remembered the name of the print. Here is the blog post for those curtains – https://sincerelymariedesigns.com/diy-pinch-pleat-drapes/
I will forever love the name Audrey. It’s timeless. Wow, 27! I’m sure you’d say those 27 years have flown by.
Seeing your posts in my inbox is a Thrill ! I’m in love with your style of “home” and keep looking at past posts to incorporate some of your ideas into My ever-evolving home. Lately, I’ve realized your block print fabrics are capturing my heart. I love to sew and create, so will search your sources. Thank you for sharing your time (which I know is precious) and a very happy birthday to your little one!
Oh, that means so much to me, Cindy! I’m so glad you’re here. I’ve always had a soft spot for block prints. There’s so many great places to find affordable options. I’m currently sewing an ottoman slipcover now in block print for the fall season. You just can’t beat custom made items for your home!
Your pantry is stunning! Question: Where did you purchase the white marble charcuterie board — LOVE IT!
