We’re decking the halls and starting in our foyer! We’ve incoraporated fresh greenery, satin ribbon and lots of glass ornaments. Take a peek at our Christmas Entryway!
The Christmas season has officially begun! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We spent some much needed time with family and had a restful weekend. Last week I started decorating our foyer for the holiday season and over the weekend I got our fresh garland and wreath hung. When it comes to fresh garlands and wreaths, Lynch Creek Farm is my go-to. This year I’ve used one of their wreaths as well as garland for this space.
Not everything is new in our foyer. I also recycled several things from years past. Let’s take a peek!
This is the view of our foyer from our den/TV room. The large doorway frames our staircase beautifully. Fresh cedar garland is my favorite. You can find what we’ve used HERE. The garland might be new but the mercury glass ornament garland and mini stockings are not. You can find the ornament garland HERE. I’ve had mine for a couple of years now. Each year I’ve used it in different places in our home. It think the bannister might be my favorite spot for it though.
We’ve used fresh greenery in the foyer. The rest of our home has a mixture of real and faux garlands and wreaths. I do love the smell of the real thing though. There’s just something about coming home this time of the year to the amazing smell of fresh cedar. While there are pros and cons to using fresh greenery, I have always felt the pros outweighed the cons. It’s a personal preference and I would suggest using what works best for you and your family!
The mini stockings are homemade. You can find my easy how-to HERE. I originally made them for an advent calendar but the last two years I used them with garland above our bed. You can see that idea HERE. The Hallmark network asked to share these little guys on their daytime home show this year. We’ll have to see if they make it onto the show, so exciting. I’ll keep ya posted!
When it comes to attaching the garland to the banister, we’ve always used these green wired ties. I believe we purchased them at Target years ago. We’ve used them inside as well as outside.
My favorite bows to use are those that I’ve made with satin ribbon. I tie a simple bow, just as I would when gift wrapping. Floral wire through the back of the bow works well to attach it to the garland. Green floral wire would be ideal here. The satin bows that I use will get stored so that I can reuse them year after year. I like to switch the color up each year, but I do save all of the bows for future use.
One thing that I really love about Lynch Creek Farm’s greenery is how full it is. Both the wreath and garland is noticeably fuller than any that I’ve ever bought from a big box stores. A large bow on the wreath would be too much for this space, so just some simple satin ribbon gives it a great understated look. You can find this wreath HERE.
As the season goes on, this wreath will move to the front door. Fresh greenery is much happier outside. As for the garland on my bannister, it will be pretty crisp by Christmas but I’ve never had any turn brown. HERE are my tips for keeping fresh garland green all season.
Our entry is a perfect example of the Christmas decor that I love the most. It’s simple, welcoming and timeless. Most of the things in this room I’ve collected over the years and continue to use Christmas after Christmas. That makes things extra special for us this time of the year. I hope that when family and friends visit our home that it feels cozy and inviting. I wish you all a very cozy home this holiday season, friends!

Amanda!! Your entryway is gorgeous!! I love all the ribbon you’ve added. It adds such a soft and elegant touch to the space. I think my favorite is the bow you placed between the mirror and the plate. 😍 Thanks for the tip for attaching bows to Garland!! XoXo
