Hello everyone! I’m so glad you’re here to join me for our second Christmas tour of the season. Today I’ve joined several blogging friends to share our homes with you all. If you’re coming over from Juliet’s lovely home at Make Mine A Spritzer, welcome! Yesterday I shared our foyer, but I’m even more excited to share our living room with you today. This room is always my favorite this time of year. I love the old fashioned style and warmth this room has. It has the perfect English country Christmas feel.
This year I decided not to purchase any new holiday decor but instead use only what I already had. This tree has always been special to me. I purchased it for a only $20 eight years ago from the clearance section of Ballard Designs. It was missing its stand and had been shoved into a dark corner. This tree always holds our sentimental ornaments. It’s a collection that has been growing for the last 17 years. Josh and I like to pick one ornament each Christmas that holds some meaning for that year. With the red velvet ribbon and warm lights, it’s the epitome of romance and nostalgia.
The beautiful garland is fresh garland from one of my favorite companies – Lynch Creek Farm. Each year I use their garlands or wreaths and have always been so impressed with the quality. They were gracious enough to send this thick gorgeous garland to me. I had planned to drape it across our mantel, but after receiving it I realized that it was plenty long enough to dress the mantle entirely. It was a bit of a risk, but it turned out even been than I could have imagined. Monday night at midnight I was busy adding faux pomegranates, pinecones from our travels, glass ornaments and ribbon. I’m thinking some lights might also be in order just for a little extra magic.
Oh! Be sure to pop over to my Instagram this afternoon for the chance to win your own garland or wreath from Lynch Creek Farm!
We’re still rocking these chunky knitted stockings. I just love their timeless style, and the red velvet ribbon gives them the perfect pop color. I made sure to double check that they’re still available for purchase and they are! You can find them in cream or red here.
This chair is known as “mom’s chair” in our house. I almost put away my basket of gift wrap before I took photos but left it instead. While the pile isn’t always this neat, it’s reflective of my life in the month of December. Each week can find me in this room watching a Christmas movie and wrapping gifts. It’s one of my favorite ways to spend an evening during the holidays.
For as long as I can remember I’ve had a love of ribbons, pretty papers and tags. A couple of weeks ago I finally launched my first set of papers and customizable tags. You can shop those here. The papers this photo are from Ballard Designs, JSH Essentials and Target. You can find their links below.
Fall linens were swapped for linens in soft greens, deep reds and creams. I love a mix of plaids and florals for the holidays.
This little antique table found a new home along the wall of our new butler’s pantry. It’s been the perfect place for us to keep some of our favorite board games.
Just a simple berry wreath is the perfect festive touch for this antique secretaries desk. Our old wooden toy soldiers also found a home here. I’m excited for this view once all of my paper whites bloom. It’s going to be such a pretty sight this New Years.
I am so glad you could join us for this tour. I hope that you leave feeling inspired and ready for the Christmas season. It can be such a busy time of year, so it’s important to remember to rest and enjoy all the beauty and magic of the season. It doesn’t matter if you decorate your home from top to bottom, or just a small corner. With a little creativity you can make it truly special. I hope you’ll hop over to Postcards On The Ridge for more decorating inspiration and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

It’s so beautiful! Nostalgic, classic, and not too precious. Just cozy and inviting.

That means so much <3 Thank you, Josee! Have a very Merry Christmas, friend!
Your home is so lovely, I love your vintage style so much! I’m curious, how do you keep your garland looking fresh, especially indoors near a fireplace? Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much, Vicki! When I first get my garland I soak it in my bath tub overnight. I then lay it outside the next day to dry. Once it’s hung I just try to spritz it with water several times a week, avoiding the ribbon of course. It always gets dry by Christmas, but I’ve never had any turn brown. Hope that helps! Fresh greenery inside can be tricky.
Every nook and cranny looks spectacular and Neiman Marcus window worthy! I adore it! Makes me want to turn my entire (not traditional looking) house into a traditional wonderland like yours. You’ve put so much thought into everything (like the little bows on the sconces!) that I’m not sure I’d want to spend my day anywhere else. Thank you for sharing it with us. Merry Christmas!
Aww thank you so much, Cindy! That really means the world to me. <3 I actually moved my computer to the back table of this room today, so I could enjoy the view while I work. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season!
I’m taking notes – it’s so lovely! The tree looks stunning, and those Fisherman knit stockings – I need them in my life. Hahahaha. So happy to join you on this holiday tour (my first) and wishing you and yours a peaceful holiday from the heartland.
Thank you so much, Michele! I hunted for the perfect knitted stockings for years. I was so thrilled when I found those a couple of years ago. I was surprised at how good of quality they are. I’m so glad you could join the tour this year! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season!
Amanda, You have a beautiful home! Love your decor and pretty touches. The red decor is fresh and love the floral block prints with it. Your tree with sentimental ornaments is the best. It’s nice you take time to watch movies and wrap on these hectic holiday nights. December can fly way too fast. I did that too when my boys were small and spent many a late night wrapping and savoring the downtime. Fun doing this with you all.
Wishing you a lovely holiday season.
Kim
Thank you so much, Kim! This room is definitely my favorite room currently. The classic red and creams remind me so much of my childhood at Christmas time. I’m always supposed how quickly this month flies by. It seems to pass faster each year. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
Amanda, your living room is so beautiful and traditional … its everything I love. So much inspiration here. I’m so glad I joined the tour and found new … subscribing now. Happiest holidays to you and your family. xo
Thank you so much, Juliet! That means so much to me. It’s so great to have you apart of the tour this year. You home is absolutely beautiful! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season!
Amanda, your home is beautiful and cozy. I love the Fisherman knit stockings along with the fresh greens and pops of red.
Thank you so much, Tammy! I searched for the perfect stockings for years. I was so thrilled when I found those! Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful Christmas season!
Amanda, your living room is so cozy and classic. I love the softened traditional colors that you’ve used. Such a beautiful space!!
Thank you, Angie! I don’t usually use a lot of reds except at Christmas time. It has such a nostalgic feeling. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
Swoon! Amanda Marie, this could be right out of a Hallmark movie but even prettier! I love the traditional red and I’m itching to do it. Next year I think! You thought of every detail, down to the bows on the sconces. I’m so in love! Just gorgeous, girl! Merry Christmas! xo
Aww thanks, Summer! That means the world to me, friend. This is the only time I really ever use reds. I love the nostalgic feel it gives this time of the year. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a lovely Christmas season!
Your room looks beautiful and the garland is stunning! Seasons greetings.
Thank you so much, Heather! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
Every inch is perfection!!!!! You have perfected that corner with the stacked baskets and the brown transferware on the wall. I’m replacing some red transferware plates on a wall with brown and I have the hardest time finding ones I love that go together. You did great finding those. I still can’t get over your $20 Ballard tree. I could just sit in this room and look around for hours. Invite me over. hahahaha!!!
Thank you so much, friend! That means the world to me. I’ve always collected blue and white transferware in the past, but really fell in love with brown and white in the last couple of years. There is a local antique shop called The Queen of Hearts near me, and they have a big booth that has nothing by antique and vintage transferware. They have just about any color and pattern you can think of. It’s glorious! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
Hi, Amanda, your home looks so pretty, I loved the bedroom tour and the living room too. You have done such a fabulous job with your home. It exudes classic beauty and all the details you added for Christmas are just gorgeous. I did peek at your new butler’s pantry earlier too and wow, is that a neat space. I need one of those! Great job on it all!
