I can’t believe we’re already in week 2 of the ORC! I would like to think I don’t have too much to do but who am I kidding? I’ve got a ton still left to do! So, a couple things have changed in the last week.
If you remember last week I shared that we had finally upgraded our mattress to a king and Josh built a platform for it. This week we moved our old bedroom furniture out of the room with the exception of the dresser the tv is currently sitting on. We moved the vintage dresser that was in the guest bedroom in our master bedroom. I refinished the dresser a couple years ago after I found it at a yard sale for $25! It was in great shape with the exception of scratches from years of use.
I found the vintage wooden mirror at a thrift store for $15. I love the contrast between the grey dresser and the rich wood stain!
I haven’t made the headboard just yet. I’m really anxious to get started but was not able to find the time to get started this week. I did however make several decisions about the space.
I lucked up and found a great antique bedside table for one side of the bed at one of my favorite antique shops. It doesn’t even require any work which is always the best kind of find. I love the warm wood tones it adds to our neutral space.
We also made a trip to Ikea so that I could pick up some bedding items. The rest of the bedding is on it’s way via UPS. I should be receiving some happy mail today! I can’t wait to share that bargain with you.
I also worked on a little decor flip this week. I found these mirrors at a thrift store for $5 a piece a month or so ago. I’ll share more about it next week once it’s finished but I took the mirrors out and I’m just using the wooden frames.
Besides building the headboard next week, I also need to address the wall across from our bed. This mess of cords and electronics is going to get a major clean up. The plan is to move this dresser into our closet and built a narrow console in its place. We’ll mount the tv to wall above. My goal is to clean the space up a bit and loose the look of clutter.
Hopefully we’ll get everything accomplished on our list. We might be eating take out a little more than I would like, ha! You can check out the progress of the others who at participating here.
