Collected Living Room – Spring Tour
Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I shared a little room tour. Since it’s officially spring, I thought I would share a current view of our living room with you. This room hasn’t changed too much since our Christmas tour, but it’s always fun to share this space each season. You can find our spring tour from last year HERE. You’ll find that I’ve brought in some fresh linens, greenery and décor.
Our living room is straight back from our foyer. It’s north facing, so it doesn’t get as much sunlight as some of the other rooms in our home. Our wall color, Simply White, can appear very crisp and bright at certain times of the day, while dim and warmer at other times. It’s a bit tricky to photograph, so bear with me.
I just love this room in the spring! The sunlight has such a glow to it and it really gives this room a warm feel. This room is a mix of old and new. It has slowly taken shape over the years. Although there are things I’d like to change and it’s not completely finished, it’s truly a collected space that we love.
Josh would tell you that I’ve pretty much claimed this room as mine, but we spend a lot of time here as a family. While most movies are watched in our den, we still entertain and play board games in this space, so I like to keep things cozy, yet a little more formal than our den. (Just an FYI if you have kids, we recently purchased the game Labyrinth. You’re racing to collect treasure in a maze that is always changing. We love board games and this is a current favorite of ours.)
This German mantel clock, circa 1940’s, is the latest addition to this room. It was an unexpected antique find last month. After purchasing vintage clocks that required repair in the past, I was surprised to hear this one start to chime while still in my cart at the store. I wish I could play a recording of it for you. It has such a beautiful sound!
My blue and green fabrics always feel right at home in the spring season. My spring and summer pillow covers might just be my favorites. They’re a mix of homemade and purchased. I’ve found it more difficult to find pillow covers that I really love already made, so I’ve gotten used to looking for nice fabrics to make my own.
In the back corner of our living room we have a small nook, complete with a cozy reading chair. As you can see, this corner doesn’t get as much natural light, so the walls are much warmer here. We recently moved our bar from the dining room to this room. We found that friends and family naturally congregated here, so it just made more sense to keep those items to be in this room.
This antique chest stores Charlie’s school books and supplies, as well and puzzles and games. In a collected space it’s all about form and function!
Another change that I’ve made in this room is that I recently moved my ceramic umbrella stand from our foyer to this room. With the spring rain sure to join us soon, it’ll have to go back to the foyer, but for now I’m using it to hold my bamboo walking sticks and canes. I just love the pop of color and it looks right at home beside the French secretary.
How do you decorate for spring? I know many of you still have snow on the ground but I hope this gives you something to look forward to and inspires you. Later this week I’ll be sharing my lemon-Lavender bar recipe. They’re such a delicious spring time treat! I hope to see you back here, until then I wish you all a beautiful spring season and happy decorating!
I always love seeing photos of your home. Your love of quiet blues and greens with white reflects my own way of decorating, although I live in a newer cottage that we downsized to just a few years ago. I see we both enjoy Jenny Steffens Hobick’s beautiful products! I have a question – may I ask where the chair that is in front of your bar cabinet is from? I have a chair I wish to replace, and this style is what I am searching for. Thank you for theh inspiration you share with all of us on your blog and IG.
Thank you so much, Laurie! Soft greens and blues are so serene. I just love them. Yes, Jenny’s fabrics are some of my favorites! I wish she was still selling it by the yard. That chair is the Rebecca chair from Ballard Designs. Sadly, they’re no longer selling it. I’d love to find a second one. It’s such a great chair!
I love your spring room! Where did you purchase your floor lamp with the patterned shade? I really like that corner. Thank you!
Thank you! The lamp is from Pottery Barn and the printed shade is from Ballard Designs. They have some great printed & pleated shades to choose from.
Incredible. Perfection. Lovely. Fantabulous! I’m so happy to see these white plates and the platter in more detail. I also have Simply White walls and a picture about that size that needs a little something with it. I was just about to hang two dinner plates but the idea bored me to tears. Now I’m going to look for plates just like yours! So interesting! Are the smaller plates salad plate size or dinner size? Is that tan chair in front of your bar area new? I feel like that’s a different slipcover or something is different. I adore it! I also love how you added the little pics over your sconces. Perfect. Your home and style is in my top five fave list. In no particular order, it’s you, Nine & Sixteen, Sweet Shady Lane, K&G Home Design and The Tiny White House. Thanks for sharing with us! Now come to Nashville and tell me what to do. 🙂 – Tracie aka @photographsandstories on Insta
You are so sweet friend! That’s the best compliment a gal could ask for. As for the plates, I say go for it! The platter really adds a little something extra and they’re fairly easy to find. I’m so very honored to be included in that amazing list. Those are also so of my favorite feeds. All of their homes are so inspiring!
I love how you have styled everything here.so bright and beautiful. Perfect for spring!
Thank you so much, Jen! Happy spring!
I love all your furniture pieces! Your room is so beautiful! Love that you have games out and your styled bar!
Thanks Kristin! This room gets a lots of love from the family. I had to downsize the stack of games from photos. It was just a little out of control, ha!
Amanda,
I always love seeing photos of this room. So classic and cozy.
Love your chairs. Where did you purchase?
Thank you so much Cheryl! They’re actually from Ikea. They’re the Jennylund chair. They discontinued them some time ago, but I do see them often on the FB marketplace.
LOVE your clock find – that is gorgeous and looks so perfect where you placed it.
Your home is always so perfect. : – )
Thank you so much Michele! It was a surprise find, for sure. Hopefully it will run for a long time to come. 🙂
I love this beautiful room. Can you tell me where the blue furniture is from?
Hi Claire! Which piece in particular are you referring to? Sometimes lighting from computer or screen to screen can vary. I don’t have any blue furniture pieces, except for the check wingback chair, but I’m more than happy to share any source!
Hi Amanda,
Thanks for your reply! I was asking about the blue ( black?!) round table and the table behind your sofa. After reading more, it looks like you found and refinished these pieces yourself? Beautiful!
Labyrinth is a great game! I collected a lot of Ravensburger games when my son was little, he’s 34 now and I still have them! The quality is excellent and they are different from the typical board games everyone has.
I’m new to your blog and I admire your style! I’m glad I “found” you!
Yes! I completely agree. Our family, including extended family, loves games. The pine armorer in our guest room is filled with them. We love anything that is strategic. Labyrinth has been a great game for our family, including our 8 yr old.
I’m so glad you found my little blogging corner too! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Your pale color combinations are charming and soft. I particularly like the simple slipcovers. Have you ever ordered any online or are they custom? Lots of interesting touches and personality. Thank you.
Hi, your house is absolutely beautiful! Could you please tell me the name of the stain that is on the dresser in your sitting area please.
Thanks so much
