We’ve brought natural fall elements indoors and have incorporated warm colors into our family room. This classic fall living room is our happy place!
I know I’m slow to post seasonal tours sometimes, but I like to spend a little time in the season and decorate at my own pace. After all, when it comes to decorating and curating your home, it’s not a race. It’s much more inspired when you take your time. A classic fall living room takes time to build and collect.
For the last few years I’ve really moved away from faux fall décor and have chosen natural elements instead. Real elements such as, pumpkins, mums and dried gourds, give our home so much warmth and I love that I don’t have to store items throughout the year.
I love using mums to decorate outside and inside our home. They can be planted in late fall in a sunny place in your yard to bloom again next year.
We spend so much time as a family in this room, so keeping the seasonal décor simple is a must. The great thing about fall is that you don’t need a lot of things to really make your space festive. Natural fall colors are already so warm and inviting on their own.
You know that I love to swap out my pillow covers with each season, but I also love pillows that can be used for multiple seasons. Our taupe check and yellow block print flower covers work for summer as well as fall. Knitted pillow covers really bring in a cozy feel to the room and warm yellow/orange pillow covers bring in that traditional fall color. I just love how textiles can elevate a space.
For quite a while after we purchased our home I was unsure what to do with this little corner of our living room. We may be relocating our powder room to this corner in the future, but for now it’s a cozy nook with one of my favorite armchairs and an antique dresser full of Charlie’s art supplies and puzzles. Adding a soft plaid throw and DIY floral arrangement give this corner the perfect amount of autumn.
How do you bring fall indoors? Do you prefer warm or cool fall colors? Fall is such a fun time to reimagine our homes. New seasons are a great time to try new design ideas and colors. Here’s to a fun and colorful fall. Happy decorating, friends!

I bring out my old brown bottles and dried gourds. Put some baskets out and fill them with gourds and pumpkins. I also use my dough bowls for dried hydrangeas and gourds. You have such a pretty, warm and inviting home.

Your home is lovely and so inviting. I am trying to decide whether to replace or recover a sofa, and the fabric on yours looks like it would work. Would you be willing to share the source?
Laura says
What is you source for slip covers?

Beautiful! What color are the walls, and where did you get the chair?
Amanda says
Thank you so much Tara! The walls and trim are painted Simply White by Benjamin Moore and the chair is an old Ballard Designs chair, called the Rebecca chair.

Hi, where did your white/grey armchair come from?
