**Update – See our timeless kitchen makeover. **
I’ve wanted to share all about our dishwasher makeover for days now but the rest of our kitchen renovation has been taking up every inch of our free time. It seems weird to even say, “dishwasher makeover.” I promise it’s a real thing. In fact you can use this paint on other appliances as well. When we moved into our home this year we replaced the refrigerator and stove/oven. The dishwasher was in perfect condition and it’s still sold in Lowes which means it can’t be too terribly old. We decided to keep it to save the extra buck. Its been perfectly fine except for the fact that it doesn’t match any of our other appliances. When Giani Granite asked if they could send me some of their new line of appliance paint, Liquid Stainless Steel I said absolutely!
As excited as I was about it I sadly didn’t get around to using it until a few months later. Why is it that some of the most simple tasks get put on the back burner? I’m now kicking myself that I waited so long. Here’s a photo of the before – The front panel was a little beat up and needed a facelift for sure!
I taped off the surrounding cabinet and made sure to clean the dishwasher with glass cleaner as recommended. Let it completely dry and apply the first coat with the foam brush provided. The first coat looks rough but it’s better to work with thin coats. You need to wait an hour in-between each coat before applying the next.
I did four coats total. I probably could have gotten away with three but thought the fourth would be for good measure. I then applied the top coat and let it completely dry 24 hours before using the dishwasher. Here’s how great it looks now –
I have to do a double take from time to time. It looks like a brand new dishwasher! Not only does it fit in better with the rest of our appliances the scratches on the front panel are gone. The top coat gives the paint a hard finish. It seems to be pretty tough. We haven’t had any scratches yet and that’s saying a lot considering that we’ve been hard at work installing the new counter tops and sink this past week and weekend. I’m so excited and relieved to be in the home stretch and even more excited to share the finished job with you guys. I hope to write all about it next week!
Big thanks to Giani Granite for another great product. You can find our laminate counter top makeover using their counter top kit here.
Have a wonderful week friends!

Thanks Rachael! I can’t believe how much better it looks. It’s crazy what a little paint can do.
Did you use the refrigerator kit? I haven’t seen one by them for a dishwasher…
