I’m so glad that today has finally come. I’ve wanted to share our new kitchen for days now and somehow found myself working on something else or the kitchen was in no condition to get photos. The sink never seems to be empty. I guess you could say I’ve been enjoying my new counter tops and sink by baking more. I wanted to just take a look back at how the kitchen looked before we moved in.
If you follow along on Facebook or Instagram you’ve already seen the sneak peek of our sink and butcher block counter tops. We never would have thought we’d be redoing the counter tops already. We had planned to stick with the recently painted ones for at least a year. However, when you find the counter tops you’d planned on buying for only $30 a piece, you don’t wait. Our luck Ikea had just discontinued this particular line. That’s right, $150 for all the butcher block counter tops. We were beyond thrilled. We also got a bargain on our sink. I found our apron sink for only $100 at Ikea in the “as-is” section because it was returned without its box.
I’m totally in love with the counter tops and the sink. Take a look at the room now-
The kitchen has been one of those rooms that keeps changing the longer we live here. I’m slowly getting everything just the way I want it. It keeps things fun. It’s also great when you’re not in a rush. You can wait for the deals to find you! I’ll be sharing all the fun times we had altering our cabinets to fit the apron sink. I promise it wasn’t too bad. You can see our kitchen makeover using the counter top paint here.
Have a great week friends!

Thank you so much Bree. I have to admit that I haven’t always been the biggest fan of Ikea but I’ve figured out over the last couple years that they have some really great things in each department. I’ve slowly been collecting the copper. 🙂
Hi! I also live just north of Atlanta! Was wondering if you lucked up on these discontinued countertops recently and if so, did you find them in store only? Online? I never seem to know how to find deals at IKEA. Would love to learn your tricks! Love your beautiful kitchen!
High five for Georgia girls! Thank you so much Caitlin 🙂 We found these counter tops a couple months ago. They had put them out on a pallet on a Friday and we went Saturday evening and bought the last five they had. The sales man said there was originally 80. I’ve noticed that items in the As-Is section go very quickly! I’m not sure if they put discontinued things on their website or not. I wish I had some awesome secret but honestly, you just have to go often. When we found the counter tops we were actually just there to pick up pillow inserts. I always try to keep a look out for whats on clearance or has been discontinued. Even if you don’t plan on using it right away, you’ll have it when you need it.
Love everything you guys did! Where did you get the runner from? It matches so well.
I love this! Absolutely gorgeous! What color wood would be similar to what you used here? I’m looking and see several. Thank you!
