Last fall I discovered the perfect pink paint color by complete accident. While hunting down a blue paint color for Charlie’s room, I stumbled upon a pale pink paint that I knew I had to try. You may remember when I was pregnant with Audrey I wanted to use a soft pink on her nursery’s trim and doors. I tested more samples than I can count without any success. I finally conceded and went with a tried and true sage green that I had used in my office. While I really liked the green, it wasn’t my original vision and the thought of using pink still was hanging in the back of my mind. I decided to give it one more shot and try a sample of the color and I’m so glad I did!
This pale, creamy pink is called Pink Ground by Farrow & Ball.
Just before Christmas I had my local Lowes mix the color with their Valspar paint line. It’s just the color I had envisioned. After painting the trim, window, and doors in this perfect pink, I can truly say that I couldn’t be happier with the result. It’s very calming and serene, and yet playful at the same time. It complements the wall color so well, much better than the sage.
This would be a beautiful color for the entire room, actually. I’m not quite ready to commit to it for the whole space quite yet but that might be a possibility in the future. I love using color in children’s spaces. As Audrey grows and more of her personality shows, I plan to incorporate more color in her room accordingly.
Correctly capturing her room through the camera has always been tricky. Her room is one of my favorite rooms in our home. The lighting is a little dim but so peaceful and beautiful in person. I feel that it never comes across just right in photos.
I also wanted to share a tiny sneak peek into her closet today. Before she was born Josh and I added shelving, but never finished painting everything. I’m currently working on that now, and hope to add a little wallpaper or a floral stencil to the walls. It should be complete soon and I’ll share all the details here. It’s been a very affordable and doable project and it’s shaping up to be quite adorable!
The soft pink pairs with the bead board walls so well. The sweetness is off the charts. In the last two years I’ve become a sucker for a soft pink bedroom. It’s not a color that you see used very often, but one that can used very elegantly. I love that it seems to be making a bit of a comeback in recent years. Coming from someone who was never all that enthusiastic with pink paint colors in the past, I have to say that this is the perfect color for her room. With the right shade, pink can be the perfect addition to your home.
I’m currently wrapping up the last few details in Charlie’s room. I haven’t posted his room here in several years. He’s 12 now so I don’t share his room as much as I used to. I want to make sure I’m giving him privacy from the blog. However, he’s given me his blessing to share his new and more mature room. Stay tuned for that this summer. I hope you all had a restful and peaceful Memorial Day and I hope your week is off to a great start, friends!

This is such a calm and sweet color for a little girl. Your daughter will have fond memories of such a pretty room.
It’s always nice to hear from you.

Thanks Karen! It’s really such a peaceful room. Hopefully I can get back into the groove of blogging.
What talent you have! What a lucky little girl! Room is perfect.
Oh thank you so much, Judy! That means a lot.
It is beautiful and calming. The sage green is a great compliment. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Thank you, Linda! I love spending time in this room. It’s always been such a peaceful spot.
What a beautiful room! My daughter’s nursery and “little girl” room was also sage green and pink, and she is almost 26 years old, it’s a timeless combination! She was a dancer for years, and the shade of pink you used reminds me of the color of leather ballet shoes. I still have her first pair. Also, thanks for sharing the links for the books, those caught my eye right away as I love vintage (or vintage style) book, especially when they are ones I enjoyed as a child, Thanks for sharing!
You’re so right! It’s such a classic and sweet combo of colors. This pink absolutely reminds me of ballet shoes. I think that’s the perfect name for this color! If Audrey ever dances I’ll have to save her first shoes as well. What a sweet item to keep from their childhood.
And you’re very welcome, Vicki! When I stumbled across those books randomly, I just had to get a few. Their covers are all so beautiful and unique. As an avid reader, I wanted to make sure she had some classics.
It’s perfect. She’s a lucky little one.
Thank you so much! 🙂
The dresser and mirror turned out so cute together in that color! The wall art puts it over the top! The repeated scallops throughout the room pull everything together. So very charming!💗💗💗
Thank you so much, Beverly! I found that sweet dresser on the FB yard sale page. I love that it’s solid wood and I was able to paint it. The sage green adds a little color to the room.
Audrey’s room turned out perfectly charming and timeless. The pink is really perfect, and it pairs beautifully with the Swiss Coffee walls and sage furniture.
