We’ve moved! I’m dying to share our new home with you all, but today I want to share one last full before & after of our beloved colonial. Let’s take a look!
I’m not sure that I ever thought I would be writing this post. When we purchased our colonial home almost 10 years ago, we said we would never move. Yet, here we are. This may seem very sudden, but I can assure you it’s something we’ve wrestled with for a few years now. Our colonial was perfect for our family. I loved the size, the renovations we had done, and the location. However, it sat on a very steep hill with English ivy covering much or it and it had zero yard for the kids and very little gardening space. We made the best of it for years, but in the last few years it always felting lacking. There were a few other reasons as well, but that was a major one.

Last fall Josh and I started to talk about possibly moving and what that would look like. We decided to pray about it and see how we felt after the holidays. Once February rolled around, we felt confident it was what we were supposed to do. We quickly fixed little things here and there, installing a new deck and landscape steps. We wanted to make sure it was list ready by spring. After Easter, we listed it. We quickly found a major fixer upper less than 10 minutes down the road and went under contact contingent on the sale of our house. Over a month passed and our home still had not sold. After much consideration, we let that house go. We didn’t feel right about keeping them on the hook any longer. It was funny because once we did so, I felt relief. I thought I would be sad but I wasn’t. I suppose that’s how you know something just isn’t meant to be.
We then started to question if we were making the right decision in moving. After all, we were comfortable in our home and we had made everything just the way we liked it. Every time this conversation would come up, I just felt so strongly that moving was what we were supposed to do, but being in limbo was exhausting. Fast forward three months, we accepted an offer on our house and found the home we are in now all in the same week. The timing was so perfect that it had to be God. After looking at several homes and making an offer on two others that didn’t work out, we found where we are meant to be and the purchase of this home couldn’t have gone smoother. More details on that later!
I will always look back on our colonial with deep affection. In some ways I wish we could have picked it up and moved it off the hill to a flatter lot. It will be a tough act to follow, but I hope I can still inspire you with design ideas in our new home. Our move has been so bitter sweet. I want to share a tour of our new house later this week. I’m sure you’ll all be interested to see it after reading this post. Today, I just wanted to share the before and after of our colonial. We did so much with our time there. It’s hard to believe how different she looked when we arrived and when we left.

Garden Space

Looking back at all of these photos brings on so many different emotions. Sometimes it’s difficult to say goodbye even when you know it’s time. With that said, I promise we’re loving our new home. There are so many projects and things I want to do. It’s very dated but full of potential. We’re still unpacking and figuring out just how we’re going to use each space, but be sure to look for the new house tour this week or next! I’m trying to decide if I want to share photos of the house empty or as it looks right now with our things in it. Either way, I’ll be sharing very soon.
Until then, have a great week everyone!

God’s hand was in your move all along. Ugh! I love this house so much. I can imagine the emotions you must be feeling. But I’m anxious to see the new house and all the projects you will take on. Congratulations!
Beautiful! Is there a source for the green and white flowered curtains? Thank you.
Hi Kaye! I made those curtains. I used a fabric by Waverly that is sadly discontinued now.
I completely agree. There were so many things that just fell into place perfectly at the right time. It was difficult to leave when the time came, but we’re very excited to be where we are now and I know that we’ll make it home.
Looking at your “Before” photos makes me think we had the same designer! We’ve been in our 1936 fixer-upper for 4 years and have made similar updates. Love your design choices!
Oh, maybe so! Wouldn’t that be funny? Thank you so much! Making a house a home is an act of love and hard work, as I’m sure you know very well. 🙂
5 stars! Can’t wait to see the next home.
Aww thanks Vicky! I’m really excited to share it.
It’s just amazing how you made each of these rooms so absolutely beautiful. I’m sure this move has been bittersweet, but I’m sure you will make your new home just as wonderful.
Amazing! You lightened, brightened, & made excellent design decisions when you ripped out & replaced. I would swear you raised those ceilings by at least a foot or two! I am a firm believer that our houses make our lives better if we let them. Great project – on to the next!
Y’all did such a beautiful job on this home!
I can’t wait to see what you have planned for your new home.
I can’t believe people lived like that and you saw the potential to make it look like home.
You have such beautiful taste to detail.
I can’t wait to see your new place.
Best of luck to you in your new home

Congratulation on your next step/home.
You have created a beautiful place not only for yourself but for the next family.
I just adore your style! It will be fun having a whole new canvas and you can be so proud of the home you created before.
Blessings to you and your family! I have thoroughly enjoyed your home and will miss it, also. Your style is so traditional, classic and homey which is missing in most other blogs. Thank you for sharing all your creativity – it has given me courage to make changes, and your tips and instructions are awesome. I am looking forward to “riding along” on your next endeavor!
I have followed your renovations and it they inspired me to add brackets to my stairs. I also made your nutcracker onnaments.i can’t wait to follow your next renovations !
We will always be grateful for the love and hard work you poured into Breeze Hill Lane!

I loved watching your journey! Someone is getting a house blessed with joy and peace. But on the road to the next house that will become a home!
What a poignant post, Amanda! Our God never ceases to amaze us! We’re going through a similar time only in a later stage of life but also having done so much to make this home ours. If God wants it, no matter our season, he will open the doors, right? Re: your photos, how about posting both the original pix and the current; later you’ll have all three “stages” to post later on! Blessings in your new home.💗
I love looking at these photos. They are absolutely stunning and you are so talented and clever. I’m going to use these to inspire me in my home. Thank you so much for sharing them.
