Life can get so busy and hectic that it can seem almost impossible to get everything done. We haven’t figured it all out just yet but we do have a go-to secret for getting those projects complete. We’re so excited to share our best tool For staying organized!
One of the things Josh and I hear the most when friends and family visit is, “how have you gotten so much done in 3 years?” They’re referring to the three years we’ve been in our current home and the renovations and updates that we’ve done since we’ve lived here. I really started to think about that recently and just how we’ve managed to stay on top of things. We’re not perfect by any means and we certainly have a lot to learn still in so many areas but one thing that I do believe Josh and I thrive at is that we are go-getter’s and when we decide we want to do something we do it!
Time and money plan a big roll in accomplishing projects but I wanted to share a free tool we take advantage of when it comes to getting things done. Yes friends, you read it right, it FREE! A while back Josh discovered a website called Trello. (This is not a sponsored post. We just find it so helpful we had to share.) He started using it primarily with tasks at work but quickly realized that it would be a world of help with projects at home and for keeping track of post dates and collaborations for the blog. I typically like to keep things simple. When he first showed it to me I thought, cool. One more thing I have to keep track of. I already have a planner and Google calendars. Friends, it only took me a week to fall in love with it and now Trello is pretty much all I use!
Trello is a site that allows you to create boards for home, work, travel, for whatever you need to keep organized. Within that board you can create different lists with tasks that you want to get done. Here’s a look at our home board. I also have a separate one for the blog within the same account.
You can click on each task and add a description and if you’re sharing a board with a spouse or friend you can each comment on tasks.
One thing I really love is that you can label your tasks with categories you create.
Trello also allows your to add a desired deadline with a reminder to help you stay on track.
As you complete projects and tasks you can grab the tab and drop it into the completed list. It’s a huge encouragement and boost to see the completed tasks build. It has been so helpful to keep us on track to finish things in a timely manner. I truly believe staying organized is half the battle. If you’ve been struggling with keeping tidy, getting projects complete or just keeping organized with the day to day this is a great place to start. I think you’ll love it as much as we do!
