Ever wonder what is on the opposite wall of the bay window in our family room? You may have noticed that it really isn’t shared anywhere on my blog. It was for a good reason. The wall was pretty uninspiring. It’s the TV wall but the cabinet holding the TV was the wrong size and lacked the storage space we needed. I still have that pretty little cabinet but it’s found a new home in our house. I knew we were in desperate need of a console that fit the space better and met all of our storage needs.
I have been in love with Pottery Barn’s Printer collection for as long as I can remember. It’s such a classic style and has the perfect amount of vintage charm. The price tag however was a little more than I wanted to spend. Never fear, it just called for a DIY project. Josh and I are sharing our PB inspired build on BuildSomething.com. This was actually one of the cheapest pieces of furniture that we’ve built along this size. It came in right around $100 including the hardware & paint. Can’t beat that!
I chose these vintage style pulls from Hobby Lobby for the faux drawers. I just love the color and charm that they add. I used Americana Chalky Finish paint in Carbon. I distressed the edges and stained them in dark walnut with one of my favorite tools, the staining pen by Minwax. It’s one of the easiest ways to stain distressed edges. No mess! I topped it off with a satin polyurethane.
I’m totally in love with it. The storage has been wonderful and it fits the room perfectly! Be sure to hop on over to BuildingSomething.com for all the awesome woodworking plans. Even if you don’t need a TV stand currently, I’m sure you’ll find something inspiring for your home.
I hope you all have a wonderful week and big thanks to Build Something for allowing me to share our build!
