Decorating for the seasons doesn’t have to be daunting. This year we’ve welcomed fall into our home with touches straight from nature. Today’s tour features some of our simple and classic fall decorating ideas!
The first day of fall is this week and although we’re still experiencing warm temperatures here in Georgia the days are starting to get a little shorter and the nights a little cooler. I’m beginning to see the yellow and orange appear in the trees and the leaves fall. I’m really looking forward to those nights sitting around the fire pit as a family and that chill in the air. It’s one of my favorite times of the year. I can’t help but to feel anxious for the season to arrive. Last week I decided to add a few fall touches to our home. I’ve kept it extremely simple and have really only used those things that are in bloom in our yard and or at the grocery store. I’m taking my cue from nature this year and will incorporate other things as the season progresses.
I’m so happy to be sharing our fall home today along side a few very talented friends. Each one has a unique and inspiring home. I just know you’re going to be inspired to decorate by the end of the tours! I’m honored to be apart of this great group hosted by my sweet friend Krista at The Happy Housie. Today I’m sharing our entry way, family room and kitchen. These spaces are the two we spend the most time in as a family. My goal was to create a warm and cozy space for my family this fall.

I’m in the process of refinishing this antique accent table, yet I thought it didn’t look too bad to use until I finally get around to finishing it. I plan on keeping it unpainted, just clean it up a bit and seal it. I love the warm wood tones it adds to the room. I’ve also really been enjoying pops of red here and there over the last month or so. Maybe it’s because of the red berries that are popping up on so many of our trees, either way it’s nice to bring in some warm fall color.
Simple clippings from our yard put into some water make for a simple yet warm fall touches. I’ve always preferred the look and feel of natural stems to the fake ones, when available. These sweet baskets have rotated around our house over the years. They’re fun to use during the Christmas season as well to hold gifts, greenery, etc.
Last week I shared our mantel and the step by step for creating a natural foliage. You can find there here.
I love adding candle light to our decor. It gives off such a warm and cozy glow in the evenings. They’re a seasonal must!
One trick I like to use when decorating is mixing real stems with fake ones. It gives the fake stems a much more realistic look and allows you to add in some color that might not be naturally available to you.
Our breakfast nook received some understated touches. I simply swapped out the summer green and white check pillows for cream and orange striped pillows. I’m using a basket tray to hold some of our grocery goodies that I’ll be using for some yummy fall soups this month.
I’ve always loved to swap our my soaps with the season. As I mentioned in my spring home tour, I just adore Williams Sonoma’s line of scented dish and hand soaps. They fall and winter scents are my favorite and make doing the dishes a little more bearable.
You can find my tutorial for this wheat horseshoe wreath here.
I love decor that can be used for more than one season. I plan on taking this sweet little tree right through winter as do I plan on keeping a number of our throw pillows and throws around for the holidays. Staple colors and classic patterns make it much easier when decorating for a new season. I like to be able to get multiple uses on things that we buy for our home. It really benefits the budget.
I hope you’ll stop by the next home on the hop. I love getting to see a glimpse into my friends spaces all dressed for fall. I just know they’re going to be so inspiring. Have a wonderful week and a lovely fall, friends!

I so love your home, Amanda! Using nature to decorate for fall is the best. Love that little table in your foyer and I’m glad you’re not going to paint it. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home!
Thank you Jennifer! I found that table at thrift store covered in a couple layers of paint. I could bring myself to cover up that wood. I am excited to finish it though. Thanks for stopping by!
I just love your house and the simplicity of the decor. Please do tell about the tiny tree on the kitchen counter . I want one !
Thank you so much, Marilyn! I normally stick with real greenery, however that little tree is a fake. I found it on the clearance shelf at Pottery Barn a month or two back and thought it was so cute. They may still have them available on their website. I think it’s one of those items that can be used year-round and especially at Christmas. Thanks for stopping by!
Absolutely gorgeous! Love your light, bright and airy home with simple fall touches – so, so pretty!! Thanks for being part of this hop series Amanda!
Thank you so much, friend! I’m really honored to be apart of your tour. Thank you for having me!
Love your fall decor. I want to sneak in and take your baskets as they are gorgeous – and so handy.
Haha, Nancy! I totally understand. I love my baskets! You are so right, so so handy. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
