One of my favorite times to decorate our home is in the spring. The weather here in north Georgia really seemed to be looking up until last week when old winter decided to send us a little more love. We’re now in a bit of a cold spell, breaking out the firewood again. I really can’t complain though. We’ve been so lucky to see so many of the trees bloom and some of the spring pop up. It’s truly been inspiring, especially after a gloomy and rainy winter. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been making my way through the house adding touches of spring in each room using light, soft colors. I’m thrilled to share one of my favorite rooms with you guys, our spring family room along with a few talented friends today!
Adding Soft Spring Touches
Spring in our house normally consist of simple changes. I really like to keeps things uncluttered and simple. To fresh up for spring I simply swap out the dark & rich winter pillows for light and airy ones, add some fresh spring blooms and switch up the decor a bit throughout the room.
I’ve been so drawn to greens and light blues lately. I’ve scattered those colors throughout our family room and kitchen this season. You can see our spring kitchen here.

This month I’ve added some prints that really say spring to me. Swithcing out artwork with inexpensive prints of family photos is a great way to take your home into a new season. I shared all the details on our simple and classic spring mantel last week on the blog. Pay no attention to the inside of the messy fireplace, ha! The last couple of weeks we’ve had evenings below freezing which isn’t anything compared to what my northern friends are getting right now but it’s quite cold for us in March.
My yard is the first place I go to look for flowers and stems to bring in. Planting flowers, flowering shrubs and trees is really the gift that keeps on giving. I love fresh blooms in the house and make a point for pick up flowers each week at the grocery store (you can read how to style your home with grocery store flowers here) but I also love shopping our yard each season.
Spring really makes me think of clean slates. Fresh, simple and clean design.
Have you started decorating for spring? It’s such a beautiful time of the year. It’s always been a time that I have been inspired to decorate. I hope you have a lovely spring friends and happy decorating!

Ok, I really could just stare at this room all day. It is magazine worthy, my friend! And, I am so buying that art you have, I love every little touch you have added to the mantle!

Hi, Amanda, Love your design style. What are the square art pieces on either side of the fireplace? I really love the look!
Thank you so much, Kathryn! They were purchased a number of years ago from Pottery Barn. However, I just found out this week that they’re now selling something again that is almost identical. I’ve just now linked those wall tiles at the bottom of the post. They’re super pretty! 🙂
Thank you!
Love the colors is this space! What color did you use on the walls?
Thanks Tiffany! The wall color is Halo by Benjamin Moore. 🙂
