Summer Mantel Using Past Beach Trip Treasures

Sometimes I keep our mantel simple and other times I like to spend a little more time on it and make it more of a collection of sentimental items. Here’s our summer mantel with collected beach treasures.

Each season I really enjoy changing decor around and creating vignettes here and there. One of my favorite places to decorate for the seasons is our mantel in our family room. Sometimes I keep it simple and other times I like to spend a little more time on it and make it more of a collection of items. Most summers I’ve stuck with a more simple mantel but this year I was really wanting to incorporate some of the sea treasures that we’ve found on our past beach trips.

The sketch of Atlanta was purchased at thrift store quite some time back and it rotates around our home. I layered some pretty starfish and a raised shell print from one of my favorite antique stores. I placed shells that we found from a few beaches in our glass hurricanes. They’re such a sweet reminder of past memories and times together.

A trick I love to use when styling with flowers is to mix faux with real. I much prefer real blooms but they’re not always practical. Lilacs don’t bloom super well here but I absolute love them. Some time back I was able to find some pretty decent looking faux lilacs at a craft store. I mixed them with some real clippings for our yard to create an early summer arrangement.

Summers are normally very laid back for us. I don’t decorate much to be honest. I do like a very light and no-fuss feel. I love love to bring the natural colors in, so there’s always some blues and greens. I can’t wait to share our full summer tour and I hope you’ll join me back here in a couple of weeks.
